I have to say if you have any interest in WWI battles, Death of an Army Yepes is an excellent, excellent, excellent game worth looking into.

I think referring to Seas of Thunder as "hideous" is excessive, but I don't have the energy or enthusiasm to argue too much about it. The board is functional. If you "understand why it's hideous" then you probably get this. Just one of those "play something else and move on with your life" kind of things, which I suspect you also get and will do :).
