Sakazuki, better known by his alias Akainu, is one of the main antagonists of the One Piece franchise, serving as the central antagonist of the Paramount War Saga, and as one of the main antagonists of the Marineford Arc.
A stout follower of the Marine doctrine of "Absolute Justice", he once served as one of the three Marine Admirals alongside Kizaru and Aokiji, but was promoted to Fleet Admiral as Sengoku's successor following the latter's retirement in the wake of the Paramount War. He, alongside Marshall D. Teach, is one of Monkey D. Luffy's two worst and most personal archenemies, as he is responsible for killing his brother Portgas D. Ace.
