LiISTENING TO OFFENBACH MUSIC BRINGS PLEASURE TO THE EARS AND THINK OF THE ABSENCE OF COMPOSERS LIKE HIM AS THEY DON T EXIST

With Jacque Offenbach was love at first sight! I love all his operas and operettas, or any other music he composed.

Thanks for the excellent selection. Coscoletto is one of his best overtures, and we don't hear it often.

Les Refrains des Bouffes was, in fact, a medley number, without any plot or dialogues.
Coscoletto french libretto is lost.
Some overtures here are not originals but rearranged overtures (Barbe Bleue, La Grande-Duchesse, Geneviève de Brabant)
The overture for Geneviève de Brabant is, by the way, curiously including a melody from La boulangère a des écus (1875).
The only official recording of La Leçon de chant électromagnétique is arranged for synthetizer (recording from 80s)

I know a Wikipedia posting describes Les Refrains des Bouffes as "Libretto lost"; but I don't think, really, there was exactly ever a libretto (or an overture) to lose. It was a 19th century clip show of successful Offenbach vocal music presumably selected by Offenbach. Boosey & Hawkes OEK has its contents listed online.
