April 2016 Orchid Nursery Tour & Orchid Haul!

April nursery tour for Maui Orchid Society members! What a wonderful way to socialize while touring and buying orchids. Big MAHALO to Sunshine Orchids, Exotic Orchids and Fragrant Orchids!

What an amazing haul! The C. aclandiae and the antelope dendrobium at 4:59 are my favourites. It was wonderful too to get glimpses of your beautiful island. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to the April update.
PS A tip for getting rid of the wind noise in the background - bluetack a small piece of sponge over the speaker part of your camera! It really helps.

Holy shit! Such an awesome haul. A lot of the plants on Exotic Orchids of Maui website look like they're seedlings. I've always wanted to order from them though. The $100 minimum purchase is so high though. You're so lucky to be able to go there. And that cattleya aclandiae is beautiful and is on my wishlist.

Everything is expensive in Hawaii! Even the orchids! It is not like they need lights, humidifier or heat for the greenhouse!

Randy, if you can find me a smallish puakenikeni tree, I'd pay for it, shipping, and a finder's fee. When I lived in Oahu, I bought one at home depot. Whe I moved back to Idaho, I didn't try to bring it back because it was 5' tall and I figured that if they were at Home Depot, it probably wouldn't be impossible to get one on the mainland, but it is. There are fagrea fragrans if you search hard, but that's not the right species. I'm dead serious. It's been over ten years since and I still can't find them.
