After getting an interesting comment from MillieB3, I decided to elaborate more on the missing Twin and her doll in Coraline. This movie has so many secrets I could make theories forever!

In the ‘doll making’ scene, when the doll floats down and when she sends the new doll back up the background is a sky of stars. After the scene is over, Wybee tells coraline that if you’re at the bottom of the well and look up that you see a sky of stars.. hmm

1:18 just a note: Mrs Lovat on the left looks very uncomfortable while looking at her twin sister’s doll. Could it be she sensed something was very wrong?

I have a theory
The beldam made dolls who looked like the victims ( the kids she was after) . Since Ms. Lovet had a twin sister, and both the twins were identical, the beldam didn't need to make a separate doll for her. If we come to think about it why wouldn't the beldam want to capture both the girls, as we all know that she used to lure kids into her trap, convince them to stay there forever by replacing their eyes with buttons and afterwards she used to feast on their souls which increased her life span as it was her only source of food. For the beldam it was a jackpot if she could lure both girls into her trap and then feast on their souls once they finally agree to replace their eyes with buttons. That's what the beldam did. The other mother lured the two girls into her trap and when she offered them to stay with her forever by sewing buttons in their eyes one of the twin agreed while the other (Ms Lovet) did not just like Coraline. Apparently she too got locked behind the mirror where she finds out about the two ghost children who warns her and tell her about the other mother's intentions. Ms Lovet then realizes the danger in which the two sisters are and decides warn her sister and take an action (Leaving the other world forever). She goes to her sister and tries to warn her and tells her about the other mother's ambitions and tries to convince her to leave the other world. Her sister doesn't believe a word she says and decides to stay with the other mother in the other world forever. She agrees to sew buttons into her eyes. Ms Lovetknew that now it is too late for her sister and that she needs to escape. The other mother doesn't try to keep her with her forever as she knew that no one would believe her and by the fact that she already has lured one into her trap. When Ms Lovet reaches the real world she tells everything to her parents and decides not to let anyone with children live in the pink palace with hopes that no kid would be lured into the beldam's trap and that the beldam would starve to death. Since beginning of the movie we see Coraline meet Wybie who tells her that he is surprised to see her move in because his grandmother doesn't let people with kids live in the pink palace. The second time we see the two talking, Wybie tells Coraline that he's never been inside the pink palace and that his grandmother would kill him if he did so. Then he tells Coraline about his grandmother's twin sister who disappeared one day mysteriously. At the end of the movie we see Coraline gets attacked by the other mother's creepy hand but Wybie comes and saves Coraline and apologises for not believing her. Coraline asks her that what made him change his mind because the last time the two met, Wybie came to ask Coraline to give back the doll. That's when Coraline tells him everything about what happened to her and she tells him about the other mother, the other world and her trap but Wybie doesn't believe her and calls her crazy. So when Coraline asks him that what made him change his mind, he then shows her a picture of his grandmother and her twin, which his grandmother showed to him after her called her crazy. It all comes together now that after Wybie called Coraline crazy, he goes back to his grandmother and tells her that Coraline couldn't find the doll. He also tells her everything that Coraline told him. That's when Ms Lovet gets to know the danger Coraline is in and tells him that Coraline was not lying. She finally tells him about her past/secret (about what really happened to her twin sister) that she was hiding all these years. This makes Wybie believe Coraline. It's all clear now that Ms Lovet along with her twin sister both got trapped by the beldam but Ms Lovet escaped and tried to save souls of other kids.

The thing I want to know is if wybe Grandmother already had the doll in her trunk and that the beldam just got it out of the trunk and then like we designed it to look like Coraline and then got it back to her trunk before she even notice is that like is that it like

I think the "skin" or shell of the doll is really important as the Beldam used the same shell to make Coraline's doll. Maybe because she was waiting for the other twin, she couldn't lure any more people into the other world because she only has one doll shell which explains why the Beldam is dying/weakening because she hasn't had a new soul to feed on for a long time.

I always interpreted it as the beldam being able to see into the future of the pink palace, like she has the foresight to see the next child who will inhabit the pink palace that can be lured. After taking the unamed twin she changed the doll's appearance to make it look like Coraline and sent it back to the real world where it could find her ecentually. Mrs. Lovat knowing the doll to be bad and/or magical kept close watch over it and eventually took it from the pink palace. That's why the doll looks old when Wybe gives it to Coraline it was made a long time ago. And the Beldam only being able to see children in the pink palace explains why the doll never targeted Wybe.

I always had the idea that maybe Mrs. Lovat's sister challenged the Beldam as well. Mainly because of one small tidbit. Before Coraline got away with the parents and the eyes, the one with Mrs. Lovat's sister twinkled and she said, "Be clever, miss! Even if you win, she'll never let you go!" Maybe she tried to win a game similar to Coraline's to get away after certain events played out for her in the other world. (Likely 1 was meeting the other 2 kids in the same mirror.) Then she challenged the Beldam to a game, and somehow the Beldam still tipped everything in her favor. Even if that was the case behind the warning, she didn't have as many tools to help as Coraline did when she went against the Beldam. Just a small idea. :D

I think that the cat and the doll thing are connected, the first scene of the movie happened between the day that Coraline arrived to the Pink Palace (the day that coraline use the poison oak and everything) and the day that Wybie gaves the doll to coraline. Remember, the first day the first scene when we see Coraline, we see the cat at the same time and even more... the outfit that Coraline was wearing is the doll outfit. The other fact that support this is that when the parents of Coraline were "kidnapped" the Cat was the one that shows to coraline the Doll of her parents...

Imagine seeing the doll walking around like a toddler, it would be kinda adorable if it wasn't that it was being controlled by a spider demon.

My theory is that the other mother is controlling the real mother
•how she know which key to use
•she locks the door to test how much coraline wants to be in the other world
•when the snow globe breaks that us when the real mother escapes from being controlled

This was just some things I saw in the movie, I didn't take any depth into my theory, love your vids ♡

Another theory I have is that the beldam *is* the real mother

•she knows which hey to use

•and I also have a side theory that coraline wasn't their first child...
It would mean a lot to me if you respond! ♡

The doll frowns and smiles in the movie. I feel like she had to put in some of her magic like a bit of her own soul so she can move it, hear, see, and react.

I believe Wybie’s gramma and her twin BOTH went inside the Other World . But Wybie’s gramma realized that it wasn’t right so she escaped, though her sister wanted more and stayed. Because the girls looked alike, The Other Mother kept the doll in the real world to try to lure Wybie’s gramma back inside but the she wasn’t going for none of that . When her sister disappeared, Wybie’s gramma was determined to own the Pink Palace so she can rent it with people without kids, like Wybie told Coraline . But why let Coraline move in ? WELL, the gramma realized that the only child around was Wybie. Even though he does not go inside the Pink Palace, he is around it all the time . And the reason he is around it all the time is because of The Cat . Now, my theory on The Cat is that he was once a child that The Other Mother tried to lure inside the Pink Palace, but because he was also smart enough to not let her sew the buttons, The Other Mother punished him and turned into a cat. Stretch ? Possibly. Back to my first theory: The Cat is angry that he was turned into an animal and agreed to work with the Other Mother, so he tries to lure Wybie into the Other World. The gramma realizes that her grandson could possibly be the next victim, so she agrees to move Coraline in, so that The Other Mother is now focused on trying to get Coraline inside, rather than Wybie .
