Only You - Yazoo | Flying Pickets | Selena Gomez | McDonalds Ad - HD Piano Cover + sheet music

Another blast from the past that became popular again during Christmas 2022! Only You is a song written by Vince Clarke (while he was with Depeche Mode) but didn’t record it until 1982 after he formed Yazoo with Alison Moyet. The song was released in the same year and became the first Yazoo hit which peaked at #2 in the charts. In 1983, the song was covered by The Flying Pickets and was even more successful than the Yazoo version and was the 1983 Christmas #1 in the UK.

Since then, the song has been covered numerous times by artists including Enrique Iglesias in 1997, Kylie Minogue in 2017, Selena Gomez in 2017, and Becky Hill recorded a stripped back version for the McDonald's Christmas TV Commercials in 2022, so you've probably heard it many times during this Holiday season. I didn't use any sheet music for this, I'm just playing the song a I know it to be by hearing it many times over the years, and if I'm using a version as a base, I think it's the Flying Pickets version. The chord progressions in the chorus are so similar to Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight. It's uncanny.

A beautiful cover, as always, Neil, that is making feel irrationally emotional. 2022 hasn't been the best year but it's had some fantastic moments.
