The three Israeli hostages released by Hamas as part of a ceasefire agreement were given sick “gift bags” upon their release to Israel.

Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher were filmed being handed brown paper bags as they were released to the Red Cross, which according to Israeli media reports contained “souvenirs” of their time in captivity.

Benjamin Netanyahu said the hostages’ reunion with their families was an “exciting moment”, adding that the three women had been through “hell”.

The next stage of negotiations is due to commence in early February.

But with 94 Israeli hostages still in Gaza and over 10,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons, the crisis is still far from over.
