NLP Anchoring Technique | Shift Your Mindset Instantly

NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, has many mindset shifting and habit change techniques, this one is called anchoring. Imagine being able to feel confident or worthy or happy, in an instant...quite literally within the snap of your fingers. Anchoring is all about tying a emotional state or mindset with a physical cue. This physical cue acts as a trigger for the emotional state or mindset.

For the sake of explaining the process, the following example is going to be someone who wants to anchor the feeling of confidence:

First Take a few deep breaths to center yourself
Second Think of the last time/last few times you felt confident(insert the feeling or state you are anchoring). Really picture it, where you were, what it was that made you feel confident, etc. Let yourself fill up with the feeling of confidence
Third Press your ring finger and thumb together WHILE FEELING THE FEELING OF CONFIDENCE. Press the two fingers together to anchor the feeling of confidence to the physical cue.

Thanks for this Stephanie, never heard of this method but I'll be applying it from now on. I so need something like this to be less reaction oriented and also to apply it to my mantra.

I want them to be confident, can we do it for kids?
