As an Australian I would add that it was important that our politicians were *seen to* be following medical advice.
The national prime minister and state premiers held lengthy, almost-daily press conferences with their chief medical officers beside them - and free to answer whatever questions journalists threw at them.

They always said Australia is the lucky country. I've got a whole new appreciation for my great country. Australia rocks 🤘

Historically, Australians would pull together to counter the effects of drought, floods and fires. Accepting Covid lockdowns was just an extension of our concept of mate-ship.

As an Australian it boggles me that the rest of the world isn't doing this

I believe Australians not only listen to government, but we are reasoning with it and use common sense. An outbreak at the beginning from cruise ship which then no one really knew how to properly deal with it yet. Mistakes were made. Seeing people and loved ones dying alone and in isolation was the most horrible thing anyone would have to go through. No one in their right mind would want to see that again. Thus, any little things we can do in short term, help us all in the long term.

Australia succeeded due to the people doing their part under government guidelines. It wasn't the the government who eliminated it, it was the people who did what they had to do but with Victoria having to do it the hardest

Australian's will conform for the greater good and not see it as an attack on their civil liberties, unlike the United States.

Australia has done really well, I'm in New Zealand which also has done comparably well. I really want all countries to go for elimination of the virus, currently 1/4 of the world's population isn't living in fear of the virus. Let's make it 100%.

As an Australian, lock downs didn't and never will bother me as I prefer to stay at home and keep myself occupied. Never realised there was so much to keep me so busy! #HappyAsAClam

Just like to point out it was the State Premiers who did the majority of this.

Living in Australia and more importantly the state of Tasmania, we have been COVID free for over 110 days due to the fact that we used common sense and listened to our medical experts, what’s the point of having them if you don’t listen .

It was awful in Melbourne. But I'd do it all over again if it were to save only one life.

You forgot one other thing.. people who did lose their jobs got unemployment IMMEDIATELY as in within days plus the benefit was doubled (roughly) to about $1000 every two weeks until the end of September. This meant people could stay home, still pay rent, bills and eat which when you add that to the Job Keeper it kept a lot of small local businesses going. As time went on, the extra covid bonus was scaled back and will cease in I think the end of March but that is still up in the air a bit.

Country Qld - wore a mask for the first time yesterday, because we were asked to. Pleasantly surprised to see about 98% of people in shopping centre wearing them. I like to think the remaining 2% either missed the news or just hadn't gotten around to getting a mask. Saw no tantrums, scenes or complaints, although I'm sure everyone privately wishes they don't need to wear one.

I can’t believe that not all of those things were implemented everywhere. I’m not saying we did it perfectly. I’m in Queensland, and I felt terrible for our Victorian citizens. They made huge sacrifices to curb the outbreaks. But overall, I think we’ve had a relatively easier time than others (yes, the fact that we’re geographically isolated helps).
I think NZ did even better.

Good on you Yusuf, We are the luckiest country with Covid-19. We were tough early with restrictions and that has helped keep the active numbers down, and now with the vaccine around the corner we seem to have escaped the carnage that hit other countries, Great

Thank you ! Great video! And the economy is revving back up now, and kids are back in schools because of those restrictions. Well done Aussie Govt, Aussie State Governments all working together and with the Federal Govt, and well done to every single responsible Ozzie! Thank you all!

Thanks for showing your pride in our country Yusuf. We succeeded because everyone put the needs of the many above desires of the individual.
