"Even though this is helpful, it could be better". This is EXACTLY the positive forward-thinking that begins better ideas. Kudos on that statement, it really hit home!

This was great to see all the steps. Thanks for sharing.

1:16 An iMac running Windows. My guess is that Apple wanted this recycling plant to only use Macs, but for some machines, their software only runs on Windows.

Nice! Always wondered how Daisy looks and works when they mentioned the robot.
What they do is so important, wish that more companies make this a priority!

Hold up, is that Windows 10 running on the iMac at 1:15? A bit weird for *Apple's* Material Recovery Lab.

This is actually cool! I wish YouTube can make such a robot who deletes spam comments😂

Are this all fully broken phones? Reuse of working parts on the used market would be a lot better like the people in Shenzen does (if you watch StrangePart video).

The fact that these disassembled iphones are going to be turned into new Apple products is so satisfying to watch! I have an old iPhone that I've been holding onto for like a year so I can take it to an Apple store to get recycled by Daisy!. Who knows, maybe I'll be upgrading from the iPhone 12 that I got 2 years ago and Daisy will recycle that too! And if you're wondering, the other phone is an iPhone 6s that no longer works so Daisy can and recycle it! I'm still on the fence about trading in the iPhone 12 though, I guess I'll be waiting until the fall to see what the new iPhones are like before making the jump.

I posted this idea on other videos about how cool I thinking would be to allow the person who recycled their phone to get a video of the process from start to finish of their own phone being disassembled. I think the unique factor of the robots doing this would encourage folks to recycle just so they can get a neat video of their own phone being taken apart. It’s still a novelty I think most folks would go for seeing as how most don’t know this robot exists.
Especially with TikTok or just through showing your friends the video of their phone going through this process would encourage people to opt to recycle. (:

Did my old iPhone 8 Plus get sent from Coquitlam to Texas?

Sent in my old iPhone 6 for recycling 2 weeks ago (I just bought an iPhone 14 and kept my old iPhone 8 just incase that one breaks for whatever reason). Interesting to see how it gets recycled.
That being said, like a typical iPhone 6, it had a "significant" bend in it according to Apple as I tried to replace the battery in it a few years ago as it wouldn't last more than 5 minutes without dying from full charge (they said it couldn't be done without the risk of not being able to put the screen back on). Yes the phone was prone to bending in people's pockets...

Is this machine located in US or China?

I still have my Sony Ericsson k750i as an alarm clock (2nd as backup), my Samsung Galaxy S2 as a tiny monitor attached to wall, nokia 79 as audio player for noise masking, (it has stereo jack with line out switch, which no current phone has)
I kinda recycle them myself...

great insight! and props to Apple for doing more than they are required to (and all of the competition)
that said, the incentive for trade-in at Apple is really weak since the price is way below market value...
