As humans, we all share some experiences, no matter what part of the world we live in, and no matter what our culture may be. We share them because we are human; some are obvious... We are all born, we all gather sustenance in some way, we all sleep, we all dream, we all love and hate, and we all die, these are things we understand. However, there are other experiences we share that are not so easily understood, such as dreams, sleep paralysis and The Old Hag, and the latter is what we will look at in this video.

The Old Hag occurs everywhere in every human culture. It is sometimes called an “experience”, sometimes a “phenomenon” But it is sometimes, in fact often, called an “attack”, and for good reason, because it is often utterly terrifying. So What is it? Let's take a look. Hit the lights, sit back, enjoy, and don’t let yourself doze off. Something may be waiting...

00:00 Introduction
01:06 What is the “Old Hag”?
03:46 How Widespread is the Experience?
04:37 What Causes it?
06:07 The Subjective Experience

A run down of the sleep paralysis 'hag'. Would you like to hear some real life horror stories about the hag?

I use to have it all the time, when I was really unhealthy obese late sleeper and used lots of alcohol. I gave up on all that about 10 years ago, lost like 100 pound and healthy. It has not happen for almost 8 to 10 years now. I’m from Sri Lanka

I have it more often than others. And I get full on Old Hag Syndrome. BUT BECAUSE it's happened SO MANY times, now once I wake up paralyzed, I might panic for a couple of seconds, but I get to a point where I can just tell myself, "It's JUST sleep paralysis, if you fall back asleep, it'll go away." And then I shut my eyes and drift off back to sleep, more often than not. Sometimes, I panic and have to wiggle a body part like a finger or toe to wake up but it takes SO MUCH EFFORT. The only way I can think to describe it, is it's like trying to run underwater or throw a punch swimming in a pool full of jello. I have often wondered if I could bring it on voluntarily in order to study it, lol. Maybe I'll try some things mentioned in this video. My episodes usually come randomly, or when I'm stressed out, last for up to a few minutes, and while I often sense a presence or figure in the room with me and feel weight on my body holding me down, I have yet to SEE anyone, but I'm putting in my brain NOW that if I ever do see someone, to ask them a few questions if I'm able lol, or to try telling the figure "Look, I know this is just sleep paralysis, and I've got an early day tomorrow, so if you could let me get back to sleep now that would be great." Let's see if it works.

I’ve had sleep paralysis when I’m slept on my side but never experienced the old Hag thankfully. 🤞

About 7000 years ago, when I was 4 or 5, I remember seeing an old hag looking in my bedroom window late at night. I even apparently screamed a few times for my parents, but of course there was no one there. But, I still recall her face clearly. This happened over a period of a year or so, I guess. We moved out of state and I not only never saw her again, I hadn't thought of the occurrences for years. I thought it was just dreams, but now I wonder... And, I recall feeling like I couldn't move!

I've never seen this particular entity, but the one single time I had sleep paralysis I saw the "guy" in the wide brimmed hat, aka the hatman. That was utterly terrifying and confusing. What's interesting is that I had that experience before I even knew that this pitch black hat wearing presence was a phenomenon that actually happens to other people. It's downright insane how other people see the exact same thing - without even having explored the topic beforehand, or at the very least have no prior knowledge of this entity at all.

Glad that only happened that single time. That thing can F off back to whatever dark abyss he came from.

My last sleep paralysis I was SCANNED.

I perceived a bar of energy and SOUND that stretched from head to toe as I laid on my back and passed from my upper left swooping down to my left then CRASHING into my body causing every muscle to tense up as it slowly passed through me from left to right.

I couldn't even breathe as the energy passed through from left to right.

The instant it exited from my right the energy and sound swooped up to my upper right, (I knew it was coming for a second pass. That was the horror) passed OVER my whole body 2 feet above me to my left then started to swoop down for a SECOND pass through CRASHING into me and slowly going through my body exiting my right.

This was my last sleep paralysis.

The initial horror was a feeling like I was about to die.

The terror was knowing that this energy was going to pass through my body and pass through me a SECOND time as I was scanned.

The sound, I've only found one example that comes remotely close.

The intro sound to NIN - A Warm Place

The energy sound outside of my body was a mid octave

But when it crashed THROUGH me it turned to a deep toned

My mother said she had seen this old hag over 40 years ago try to attack my older sister as a baby, she never had the sleep paralysis but the description was spot on and I had no I idea anyone else had ever experienced this encounter. The place was my uncle’s old house and the room had been boarded up after she encountered it several times in that one room. It seemed to be only interested in my sister as a baby however my mother did yell at it to leave till it did, she was convinced it wanted her soul.

My sleep paralysis experiences were very mild. I would often be frozen but I had no fear and would force myself out of it. The most I had was when I heard a little girl say hello, and I still had no fear but in my mind I would taunt the voice.

I see some people comment that they experienced sleep paralysis when they were unhealthy.
I can relate to this, and I have experienced sleep paralysis a few times in my life. It was peaking when I was a student at university, being stressed, having an unhealthy diet, not having a good sleeping routine and overconsuming alcohol.

I had one particular experience I will never forget. It happened twice in close succession, right before the final exams. I would struggle to fall asleep, and after hours, I would “wake up, ” unable to move. I would feel extremely weak and unable to move any part of my body except my eyes. The worst part was that one corner of my room would be pitch black, darker than on any other night, and from this corner, I could 'feel' something staring at me. I never saw a figure or outline, but I could sense a morbid stare coming from that corner, and the longer I looked at it, the larger it grew. The felt 'it' wanted to harm me and I was unable to move. I felt vulnerable, fragile, helpless, and alone, and I still get goosebumps thinking about it. It lasted for maybe 3-4 hours each time.

My great grandmother, who is aboriginal, said to deal with a hag, you need to walk in your bedroom backwards. When you do this the hag won't follow as the hag won't face you, so she's not as tough as people think. Now I'm not sure this will work as I've never seen one tg. So good luck and I hope it works.

Around my sleep paralysis experiences, I've encountered several different entities. Last august, I've sketched the one that made me not able to sleep at night for many months.

I'm 35 and suffered from night terrors since I was a child, but in my late 20s and onwards I enjoy having sleep paralysis cause I got to a point that if I let it go long enough I am able to sink into it and lucid dream and its honestly the coolest thing ever. But once i was able to control going into lucid dreams my sleep paralysis are now so few and in between it kind of sucks not having them as much as i use too.

I’ve never seen her but when I get sleep paralysis, it feels like I’m in a room full of shadow people. I can see them running around me.

I’ve experienced sleep paralysis multiple times in the last year, it never used to happen before. I tried to avoid it once by sleeping on my front but it happened anyway. It felt like someone was pushing my head into my pillow with a lot of force and I could vividly see a shadowy figure whilst squeezing my eyes shut. The first time it happened, I heard my door shut and then it felt like I couldn’t breathe for about a minute.

My beautiful brothers and sisters, I've experienced sleep paralysis & seen a black figure. I always prayed to God Almighty and Jesus Christ & it would stop immediately because you have to believe & try not to sin. Of course we all do sin but please repent and believe in Jesus Christ & you're going to feel inner peace. It's a blessing to yourself.
Remember love they're not family members, they're dead & God takes the soul. It's demon deception. I love this channel for giving man's explains & tgen there's God's word. ❤
God bless 👑🙏🕊💜💜💜🙌🏻🙌🏻
