2018 Subaru Outback premium, the main screen froze and won’t shut off. Even with the key off and the doors locked the stereo still plays music.

That's gotta be a safety issue that can cause an accident. Someone should sue Subaru.

At least yours plays music. Mine is about as musical as my mailbox.

My 2018 Outback Touring had this same issue about 3 months ago. Until I could take it to the dealer for a software update, I had to disconnect the battery to get the radio to turn off. It would play with the car turned off and the doors locked. Also, there was no functionality in the buttons or knobs - my car was stuck on whatever radio station I was on and I couldn't adjust the volume. Once the software was updated, I thought my worries were over. I was wrong. Two days ago, my radio started something new - now it won't turn on at all. The buttons light up, but there is no back up cam, no radio, no apps, no nothing - just a blank screen and this time disconnecting the battery did nothing. From what I've read, it seems the only solution is to replace the radio unit. I'm going to call the dealership on Monday and hopefully I can get back to loving my Subie because this is the only thing I hate about my car!

This has happened to me TWICE now on a 2018. Piss poor engineering

My Subaru Outback radio has gotten stuck twice now on whatever radio station it was on. Can't turn volume down, nor change channels at all. The first time it got stuck on loud volume and just stayed blasting all the way home. Another thing it does is that when it is about 1/4 left in gas, the car actually stops - as if it is out of gas. I have to make sure that I am never under 1/4 tank. Just got a notice today about a recall about the gas gauge situation - but the recall stated that they don't know how to fix it, but when they do, they will let me know. In the meantime, I should not let the car get under one half tank full b/c the gauge isn't working right and can show 1/4 tank but it is really empty. Geez!

Ironic how after reading some of these comments I can’t help but wonder why my 2018 vehicle has computer technology of that of ten years plus *previously*

Subaru looked at my 2018 Outback today and they have to replace the radio to correct the problem of a display screen not working

I swapped the Subaru outback 2018 for a Toyota Prius 22, best decision ever.

Same issues as you, locked up frequently, rear camera often works, knob unresponsive, the Swiss Subaru importer didn't actually fix it, no update ever improved anything, they just got upset that I complained. I thought that was interesting, but a bit childish. So Subaru can't do electronics. Dodge couldn't either, their problems are legendary... The things we put up with there, medieval.

With the Toyota I get a head unit with almost perfect Android auto connectivity and reliable function so far - feels so different!

I have 80 miles on my 2018 Outback...same issues: screen froze, all audio controls frozen etc.. I pulled the 7.5a fuse for "Radio/Nav", waited 15 sec or so then replaced the fuse. Everything booted back up normally and all is functional again. I understand that SOA will have a software update by 3rd quarter if not already available now???

I got a legacy 2018. Also with a frozen screen.I took it back to Subaru. They said that it’s a software update problem. It takes a few minutes for them to re-program a new software.

I have these same problems with my 2017 Crosstrek, frozen screen, on/off button doesn't work, volume stuck on/loud, back up camera stuck on. Soonest appointment at dealership is 2 months away. Brutal service.

Outback 04.2018 Europe, car mileage
is 10k
I had black screen and radio wasn't work. Dealer tried to disconnect the battery but this wasn't help,
they have found the problem and have ordered a new detail from the factory.
Dealer was fixed it, but they didn't say what the problem was when I asked them.

I bought my 2018 with 37, 000 miles a few months ago. It was certified. Well the recall cover me? 😭 Sometimes it’s stuck with the radio on and I can’t adjust the volume or anything. I just tried to do a reset and update it but I don’t think it’s going to help. 😞

I just replaced mine with a Pioneer dmh-w4660nex. I called the dealer as my stock unit was delaminating(you can visually see a bunch of spots going across the screen) the dealer said they didn't have replacment units but I could order a refurbished on(on back order) for $1000 when I complained he said why are you gettting upset just replace it with aftermarket. I can't believe Subaru isn't backing their infotainment systems even though they have lost 2 class action lawsuits for this

2018 Outback 3.6R owner here and my head unit display just went black yesterday. Nothing is working and it's not responding to the power button or touch screen. Calling the dealer tomorrow and I'm wondering if yours was fixed?

Privet! I have a 2018 outback touring also about 6600 miles. Radio completely went out. Subaru wont replace it as my car is salvage title. Did you get your's fixed with clean or salvage title?
