Looking good John. I sure hope your decision not to replace those aluminum rods doesn’t come back and bite you in the block. Literally.

Maaaan!!! I hate that!!! TJ your one of my favorite people to watch, you keep it simple and you keep it in your means, you show the rest of us you don't half to have deep pockets to go fast. I really was hoping you was coming to the Kent Rose memorial but looks like it wouldn't have done any good. I'd top fuel hoop that baby. Good luck

Flatout has RCC gaskets, Rubber Coated Copper. I haven't had an issue with them sealing coolant. You might want to try them.

Some of us remove all of the head studs first. That way we don't have to jockey the heads so hard to get them off of the studs. Interesting that you have a big block end on your sbc crank. I did the same thing after having the head of the sbc crankshaft shear off. Only have to have that happen once. Mine is a supercharged sbc. The old eng was 10PSI the new eng with the BBC ended crank is 30PSI.

All things considered, that's not bad. I'm glad we're not talking new block, crank, rods, valves, etc.

Sweet talk your sweetie, Christmas is coming soon so maybe some Big Block Chevy parts under the tree!
Engine is wearing great John.

I started to make a comment a few weeks ago that I thought you had a weak cylinder when I heard it cranking but didn’t say anything.
Good luck, I enjoy your videos.

John, do you anneal the copper gaskets before you use them? If not it could possibly help your situation.

Thanks for all the info on this block. I just scored 1 needs 2 sleeves. Do you mind telling me what sleeves you used when it went to the machine shop?

Hey t.john if your gonna keep this engine it may be a good time to drill you some extra oil drains in the lifter valley area! You may be able to get rid of all the extra stuff you had to buy and build so that it woukd drain right!! Just a thought buddy!

Clark recommended Hylomar when I asked about sealing a copper Gasket. They make it in a spray and in a tube. If you don't know what it is, there are a few videos on it on YouTube. I have not tried it yet, should be ready to put the heads on in a week or so. But it comes highly recommended by Clark.
