CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Worth (David Hewlett), Rennes (Wayne Robson), Quentin (Maurice Dean Wint), Holloway (Nicky Guadagni), and Leaven (Nicole De Boer) meet, yet none of them know where they are, how they got there, or why they are there.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
This low-budget science-fiction drama, winner of a 1997 Toronto Film Festival prize for "Best Canadian First Feature," depicts the plight of a group of people clad in prison-style uniforms and trapped in futuristic cube-like metal cells. Their memories are hazy; no one can recall how they got there. Alderson (Julian Richings) awakens in a cell, seeks an exit, and arrives in an adjacent cube where he's sliced and diced. Former cop Quentin (Maurice Dean-Wint) becomes the group leader, and he's challenged by conspiracy theorist Dr. Holloway (Nicky Guadagni). Government worker Worth (David Hewlett) remembers a past government link to the project. A discovery that the cubes have numerical codes suggests study by math-student Leaven (Nicole deBoer) while former thief Rennes (Wayne Robson) knows some escape tricks. However, the extreme behavior of Kazan (Andrew Miller) becomes a threat to their survival. The film was also shown at the 1997 Vancouver Film Festival.

I love how they used only ONE set for the ENTIRE movie. They just changed the lighting behind the walls. Cheap, but effective.

It was interesting how Quentin started out as level-headed showing off leadership skills and then as the movie progresses he begins to unravel and by the end he’s a straight-up villain.

It's very easy to place the victims inside of the Cube. There is an exit room that serves as a bridge from inside to outside and vice versa. They literally wake up in the second to last room from the exit, but because some rooms (it's shown the bridge room among other rooms shift around through the maze) move around in cycles they wake up with the Cube halfway through the cycle. By the time the rooms go back to their original position the prisoners are either dead or have started their journey through the Cube looking for an exit (and in doing so they ironically move further away from the exit).

Cube! The only movie that makes you ask, "How did I get here?!"

Saw 9 if John Kramer had a much bigger budget but forgets the tape recorders.

I love Worth's gaze. He looks so cynic and resigned. Perhaps my favourite character, along with Kazan. I'm glad for how the movie ended.

Leavens' "I just wanna wake up." was pretty chilling.

He’s right, the solution was simple. They were already at the exit point. All they had to do was wait a bit

The shifting rooms remind me of Portal 2 and those test chambers.

Normally, someone would've sent their minions to attack them and bring them to the location they know nothing of, but since this is not the case, I honestly don't know how they ended up in that super prison.

I looked for the scene where they all meet. I love how Quentin has bloody hands and Worth is already injured, he drags down Holloway when they first meet a little bit of foreshadowing?
I may overthink but what if it’s a time circle. Like in a game: game over and you start over and that’s why Quentin has bloody hands and Worth has a little head trauma.

For gods sake now I can only think of Nick from L4D2 when I see Worth

Ezri Dax, Rodney McKay, Elizabeth Tretheway and that one background character from Tangled no one talks about sat in a cube one day...

And they got friggin Nick Knight from the same show as that Elizabeth character for the sequel and that one other guy from another movie with two of the above paragraph mentioned roles' characters in it too for the prequel! And that other movie had one of those actors play not the boyfriend of some girl's mom only to marry her irl next year from that movie!

Don't get my hint?

Ezri and Leaven were played by Nicole de Boer. Rodney and Worth - David Hewlett (that other movie is _Nothing_ where he played Dave and the same guy who played Kazan in _Cube_ plays Andrew in there). Elizabeth and Holloway - Nicky Guadagni. That random character from Tangled (Paulo, and apparently it's that animated Disney movie character) and Quentin - Maurice Dean Wint (he also narrates the intro for the _Nothing_ movie). Hewlett married Soo Garay in 2004 (she played Little Girl's Mom in _Nothing_ and some other actress played Dave's girlfriend). Nick Knight was played by Geraint Wyn Davies who played Simon in _Cube 2: Hypercube_ and that other guy who was in that _Nothing_ movie (Martin Roach, is role was simply "co-worker) also played Haskell in _Cube Zero_.

Other Youtube commenters: *Okay IABI TV, that's enough trivia for today*

(Edit: Sorry, there's a fact that is wrong over there xD David and Soo have divorced in 2004 but David has another wife now anyway.)

Leaven was right though. This room leads to the bridge.

Imo, horror movies with no set up/backstory are the best. There's no known reason why this is happening, which just adds to the feelings of tension throughout the film.
