Finally metal drummers are getting the recognition they deserve.

I love that every single drum and cymbal is musically necessary, it’s not filler cymbals, or just for certain fills, they all serve a purpose on his pallete of music.

There is a reason all extreme metal bands call on Alex to transcribe the drums to sheet music. He has a god-like level of understanding everything to do with drumming.

Lyle Cooper is the drummer who actually wrote these parts. I jammed with him a few times when he was like 16 in San Antonio, and even then he was a freak of nature. He would warm up by playing Origin songs with robotic accuracy.

The actual composer is actually Lyle cooper, the ex drummer of the band, he wrote on three albums till he left.

Alex often changes his lead foot, apparently for no other reason than "because".

Lyle Cooper wrote the drum section for this whole album and the next. Keene had little to do with this. That being said anyone who can play and understand this level of rudiments and composition is nuts.

The weird thing about Alex is the precision and the style he adds to the song.
I can play this song. Note for note. But when I play it, I have to give it EVERYTHING I've got and it feels like a monstrous achievement every time I get it done, no matter how often I do it.
He just kicks it out like its nothing. Like he has five layers of drumming BEYOND what he plays in that song, which is already incredible. I have never seen someone play a song, that I can actually play, do it that much better than me and I can't even explain how or why. I love and hate this guy. And wish him all the best for it. Because he is really one of "those" drummers. Someone who transcends the normal plains of "being good" and just goes on to be an open handed god of the set.

I think one of the overlooked things with Alex is, musicality. Extreme metal is my thing and there are loads of amazingly talented, technical drummers. How Alex adds accents and musicality to the chaotic riffs is nothing short of incredible.

Saw him live once maybe 8 or so years ago, he was just smiling through the whole set. Unfaced. He is such a beast!

One of my favorite drummers and a really awesome dude to meet in person after a set. He's got so many great videos that showcase his skill-set, but this is my go-to for anyone that's never seen him play before. Never fails to raise eyebrows and drop jaws.

One of my favorite drum playthroughs of all time! Simply fantastic! So many awesome details! And he didn't even write it him self!

Alex's drumming on the "Conquering Dystopia" album w/ Jeff Loomis, etc. is a drum clinic by itself. They picked the best man for the job.

Hey mate, I'm a New Zealand drummer as well. Good to see you being so active and a good ground for the New Zealand drumming community. Rock-On Brother, Ka Pai. <3

His grin while he plays shows the world that he knows he's a god. I'm old and I've never seen anything like that. Ever.
