The sweetest part is around the seeds. You are throwing away the best part. Also, guavas should be a little soft and very fragrant to be fully ripe.
I take my guavas at that stage, cook them, then squeeze out the sweetened puree through food mill to eliminate seeds, and freeze that. Can be used as guava sauce, or add to smoothies.

Too Funny! It's the 1st time the tree is producing, give it a chance and the fruit has to ripen a bit more on the counter. They're delicious...

🤣 I’m still laughing about last lives taste test. Now all I want to know is…why grow something you haven’t tried as far as trees go? 🤷‍♀️That’s a lot of effort to find out you don’t like them. 🤣 Still giggling. At least your honest.😉 Your rapidly becoming my fav channel especially when you add the bloopers. Waiting for the next vid of fun. ❤️

My late father grew Strawberry Guavas and Solo Papayas in his Los Angeles back yard years ago. I enjoy the taste of Pink Guava. I bet your yard smells heavenly when the Guavas are blooming!

When they are yellow and ready to drop off, they are overripe. You have to eat them when they are light green, crunchy and firm. They should smell sweet, but they should have no give at all when you press them.

Your taste test was so funny especially because the combined smell of guava and jalapeño chilies in supermarket makes my mouth water without fail. My husband thinks they smell of cat piss in the fridge. I haven't grown any in Chihuahua but you have inspired me to try. I put the whole ripe fruit in the vitamiser and strain the liquid. I particularly like prickly pear pad, guava, aloe vera, lime and some sugar... somehow it tastes like mango.

We just harvested out white guava, too. More than 80 pounds of guava and we have easily another 30 pounds on branches I can't reach.

Hi, you can make a desert called "Cascos de Guayaba" is only the skin as I see you did here, cleaning the seeds. Then you put them in a pot with sugar and a bit of lime juice, let it reduce until they are kind of shiny and there you have!! With white cheese is priceless for us here on the Caribbean. Thanks for your content.

I was recently watching a Spanish-language tour of a guava sweets factory in Mexico. The owner was saying that the biggest misconception is that the fruit is best when it's soft and "ripe". It's not, he says. It's best when its still hard and green. That's when the taste is the best. The variety they grow is "Calvillo". He also said that the best-tasting fruit is ready when the weather is cooler, especially around Christmastime..

I've got a friend who hates those. She said it tastes like you said they did. I think they are great.
