Chief, please never let the ignorant people stop you from spreading important information! You have helped so many animals. Thank you for caring!

I love sliders but they're also a very VERY successful invasive species. They often get set free after ppl find out how big and expensive they get and bc they're such aggressive and adaptive hunters, they'll out compete native wildlife. Most states ban sale of RES but I don't really see it enforced.

It’s understandable why people want to save these turtles.
I think the best way to stop this is by showing evidence (evidence that could hold up in court) proving the cruelty to these animals.
Though in many countries they could care less about the animals and more about how much money they make.

Just remembered another important thing to note. Not only do they need a spacious bathroom environment with specialized equipment, they also live for an average 30-50 years as a minimum, meaning you’ll be stuck taking care of them for a *very* long time

I learn new things everyday. Thanks Chief!

Question for turtle owners... is it safe for a turtle to be in the same room where band practice takes place?

I owned a red eared slider that I had for years that I named scribbles (because I’m an artist) lol anyways he was so tiny and out of no where the became giant! I had to change his tank twice because he wouldn’t stop growing.

That should be illegal. The machine like I wonder what would happen if someone just broke the spinning mechanism and did nothing else

That's crazy! Where the hell are these machines?

75 is like the bare minimum, 120 is ideal/recommended. Also UVB needs to be replaced every 6 months even if it still gives off light

Honestly if *you* really want to save these turtles you go to whoever’s in charge and give them a piece of your mind for setting up this… honestly I don’t even know how to describe it, especially not without the use of improper language

How has the spca not stopped this cruelty yet?! Is this in Asia somewhere?

The expense of those canister filter systems is what has always kept me at 55 gallons maximum.

If you do see these machines technically you can sue them for animal abuse but always remember if you plan on suing them always study first before court btw thank you chief I’m not sure if remember me from discord but my bearded dragon is doing much better and gaining more weight

I actually got a baby red ear from a fair when I was a kid. Luckily we did some research and set her up a 40 gallon breeder, which was a good size for a baby turtle. But once she reached adolescence it was looking too small for her so we dug her a pond in our backyard (we live in Texas so it’s usually nice and warm for her). And nowadays she’s basically my water puppy

100th like I agree with all you said even if they do “save” how do you know they won’t just replace it with another turtle

You just break the machine and steal the turtles

What if they start taking them to a zoo, or a local pond🤔?

its disgusting that these people buy these baby turtles just for them to end up dying. humans will do anything to make a few bucks. very heartbreaking.
