Just changed alternator on my 2006 Camry - with 214k. Had difficulty disconnecting one of the plastic wire connections - they were just old. Heated with a hair dryer and it popped right off. Also make a note to be doubly careful of the serpentine belt - when off the alternator - it may disconnect from other wheels. Saw one video where they used a scissors clamp to take up the slack. At 68 yr - not sure I could have put the serpentine back on without the help of my son. All this said - this is a great video - and thanks a ton for posting.

Just replaced my alternator today using this vid. Super easy to do with the hardest thing being that belt tensioner. Make sure you've got a long wrench for good leverage. Thanks for the vid it helped a lot!!!

Removing and re-attaching the belt is by far the hardest part of this process. Be sure to have a long breaker bar or extra long socket wrench to get enough leverage to loosen the belt. On my 2005 Camry there is not much space between the tension bolt and the car frame so be sure to use a shallow 19mm socket. I needed assistance to get the belt back on. Also be sure to make note of the belt routing as you will most likely have to realign the belt. Installing the actual alternator is simple.

Thanks for your video. Even you video woman. You mentioned the 12MM lower bolt.Thanks for the heads up on it. Forgot to disconnect battery & now there's a tiny 'spot weld' mark on the Exhaust cover, LOL. You DID mention it!

Concerned about doing this myself for the first time, but wondering if I should be concerned about the tensioner loosening? Mechanic scared me by saying something about if i dont keep tension on it at all times that it would break and would need a whole new tensioner. Just curious! Thanks for the video!

I do like the top mounted alternators, easyer to access :-)
I just wish that manufacturers found a way to do the same with the starter motors, they seem to love putting them in amongst the bowels of the engine, some are a real pig to get to :-(
