I wouldn't care if the buses were made in 1987 or 2017. Age doesn't really matter just as long as they're maintained well.

School bus drivers beat the crap out of the engines and the other parts of the bus 😮

My bus, 00-36 (36th bus bought in 2000) had a transmission failure. Replaced transmission, runs fine. Old bus has 61, 239 miles on it.

My bus in the morning is from 2000 and in the afternoon I have a 2002. We still have a fair amount of them, and I live in New York. With winters and all and they still have these buses on regular routes

Bus no. 3785 with over 500k miles and still going, impressive! One of my train pals has an old short bed Chevy pickup with over 700, 000 miles! The reason why it has so much, well he does a lot of driving, but had the engine rebuilt at least once and must really keep up with other maintenance! I like old things and when they work, I'll still use it, regardless of age! I'm not that kind of person that keeps up with the times. I upgrade on my terms and not technologies terms or the other BS. If bus 3785 is still with this district, keep it going. If you got rid of it already, most newer buses are computer aided and when something goes wrong, it conks out and needs maintenance. There are vehicles that date back from the 1980s, and even the 1970s still on the road because of perfect maintenance. There are even steam locomotives that a few date back from the 1890s that still run at tourists attractions because of great maintenance. They just don't make things like they used to and that breaks my heart of the newer stuff. I like old things and I won't keep up with the times. Some people say I'm living in the past, but I don't care. OLD STUFF ROCKS!!!!

We ride a really old bus like 1999 and we've never had problems besides a bad alternator but we changed that and no more problems besides every single newer bus we drive. it breaks down!!!

Just an opinion from a mechanical standpoint of you those Thomas pusher buses are a piece of shit to start with and they should’ve left them on the damn Assembly floor

A school district I worked at had in their contract with First Student that the buses could not be more than 5 model years old nor have more than 50k miles. We got brand new buses added to the fleet every years as the others were rotated out.

When I went to school . We had dodge gas powered buses with manual transmissions. When it snows . They put tire chains on the back wheels . Heater forget about it there was none . Bus driver had defrost for windshield. That's it

I trusted old buses then new ones every day.

Maybe that school district should think about contracting out their transportation. Let a private firm handle it.

It just proves that they are not spending money on transportation . I'm guessing they are spending it on wages. Should have so many replaced every year.

My bus has a lot of miles and I dont see what the issue is as long as the bus runs and passes safety inspection they should keep them there build better.
