i love the faces you make whilst playing, you make it seem as if you’re just reacting to the music instead of consciously creating it

I think this also shows why it's important to know my note scales. I know that's an obvious point. I'm just reminding myself as a novice.

Peter, you are such a great piano player! Thank you

not NEARLY enough time is given to issues about fingering in jazz...for those of us who are self-taught and missed out on a lot of this really value the lessons!

Pete! Thank you so much for your obvious sincere Humility even with your Awesome Gift of Playing:) You and Adam help me with Inspiration!

Peter, theses shorts by you and Adam are mind-blowingly great!!! I'm a guitarist and your stuff really stretches me (and many other non-pianists I'm certain) in a good way. Profound thanks, !

I used to hate using the same finger for subsequent keys, but there is a ton of it in Chopin and it can sound and feel so good.

Open studio truly is a GEM. You guys are amazing.

beautiful and great every tip they teach and share. Will there be something for the left hand in the most modern concept of jazz, for example, how would Jarrett or Evans play in the left hand? A lot of it focuses on the right hand, I know it's a strange query and just requires years of study and practice...is there a shortcut along the way? They are a blessing, thank you from Buenos Aires.

truly amazing how a minute long video can give me weeks' worth of practice material

I do that all the time for black key leading tones into white key of ascending arpeggio e.g. on D major 7 ascending arpeggio.

I used to do those sweeps from black to white keys, but I thought it was blasphemous.
Now I feel reassured that a great pianist is also janky

Yeah that’s super fun! Love it thanks all!

You’re killing me bro! Great articulation❤

I haven't learned it yet, but I think this might be the exercise that finally cracks bebop for me. Most musical aspects have come effortlessly for me, but that dang bebop has been elusive.

i'm a trumpet player but i'll try to practice this trick!
Fortressmonsterguy
The fingerings may be jankedy, but the music is fluid!! 💧

Man, if I could press “Like” more than once on the same video, I’d do it here. So helpful and smooth. Thank you.
