COVID-19 Pandemic | Prof Salim Abdool Karim on lockdown level 4

The country has moved to Alert Level 4, the nation's second-highest, from Level 3 with effect from midnight on Sunday and the restrictions will remain for 14 days. This after President Ramaphosa addressed the nation last night pleading with the nation that tough measures were needed to combat the Delta variant of Covid19. Other restrictions include limiting travel to and from Gauteng, the nation's commercial hub that's been hardest hit by the third wave of Covid-19 cases. Please Dr Karim - I have lost all confidence in you when you said - ‘next slide, please’. And…most of your commentary - not original thinking - is testimony of exactly that mentality. But Prof if South African saw a surge in the new cases, you as the public health specialist should have know that herd immunity did not come into place. This should have been a chance for you guys to do viral studies to determine if its still the same strain. This is far too late an action!

What the prof is saying is that their findings was based on assumptions and not science.
