The standing broad jump was a separate event, last held in the Olympics in 1912. The running long jump we know today has been held in every Olympics.

I think the guy on top was also Greek. Kostas Tsiklitiras he won the gold medal in the 1912 Olympics
He died a few months later in February 1913 at the age of 25 in the first Balkan war
Maybe I am wrong but it looks like him

Imagine training for four years just to spend less than 10 seconds for your shot at the Olympics. The discipline these people have. No matter if you take home a medal or not, you've proven yourselves to be greater than most and that alone deserves respect and admiration.
