AQA GCSE PE: Types Of Bones In The Human Body | Skeletal System | Bone Classification | Flat Bones, Irregular Bones, Long Bones, Short Bones | AQA Paper 1 | Anatomy

This video seeks to outline the different types of bone found in the human body/skeletal system. It also details where they are found, as well as their primary functions, which include protection, support and movement. It is essential that YOU understand this topic in preparation for the AQA GCSE PE (9-1) paper 1 examination.

What you need to know:

• the shape and type of the bones determine the amount of movement (short bones enable finer controlled movements/long bones enable gross movement)
• flat bones for protection of vital organs
• the skeleton provides a point of attachment for muscles – when muscles contract they pull the bone.

I have attached the AQA specification below where you can read about this.

Key terms: bone types: flat bones, irregular bones, long bones, short bones, fine/gross movement, protection, movement, support, organs: brain, heart, lungs, bones: humerus, radius, ulna, carpals, tarsals, ribs, sternum, femur, tibia and fibula.
