I know this phenomenon as apophenia. It’s highly correlated with a person’s level of openness (under the psychology definition). It’s good because it recognizes coincidences and makes meaning of patterns, but also can be related to psychological disorders like schizophrenia causing people to think someone is watching them or that there is a conspiracy against them. Everyone experiences apophenia, it just matters whether you are discerning enough to chalk it up to coincidence or not.
