Glad I watched this. I can now send mine to the dump. Hesitated getting rid of it because the motor started and ran so well.

found a generac ix 2000 on the trash, did not start, change spark-plug, started on second pull runs great.

My inverter generator has it over light coming on when too much is pulled. My new hobby is electronics I was hoping for you to go into the inverter repairing the capacitors resistors coil. Inverted look like a sealed unit so probably can't do that. I also was looking to see if there's a way to tweak the voltage up watts, and amps. I can see that it can be done but you'd have to really get into that inverter.

I don't have the schematics, but this unit most likely puts out three phase power on pins 3, 5, 6. Pins 1, 4 are used for voltage regulation. Just a wild guess.

Junkerac ... Mine has only 5 hours on it bought it off an old friend of mine who never used it and now will not produce AC output. Another buddy bought a different model and it was junk right out of the box. At Least they have him a new one. Never had an issue with the harbor freight inverter generator

hi i know this video is 3 years old but if you still have the generator could you try replacing the small capacitor that is bulging near the heatsink 17:29 i am curious if that would fix it if you still have the generator

I have a question i have the IQ 2000 generac inverter generator it gets ran 24/7 for almost a year now. just recently it started to kick the breaker on really easily it will be running at 20% I turn on a light and sometimes it will pop the breaker. It used to never do that before I think it might be because of the step motor as it doesn't rev up like it used to when I what plug in power after startup I ordered a step motor just waiting for generac to send it to me

First check your multimeter leads for resistance before condemning anything. My ISO Tech meter shows 0.3 ohms before I start when the wires are connected together. Which means that there is perfect continuity in the circuit. I'd expect yours to be the same

Good video. Would it be possible to repair the inverter?

I have a ix2000 that produces no power and the led light dont come on either.Already tried flashing it but no luck.
What should I look for?
Or is it a done deal.

Add my ix200 to the list, , same thing as yours. I had about 20 hours on it and had it about a year and a half and the light came on and took it to a generac dealer to find out that it would cost as much as the generator cost to fix it and its been in my garage ever since. JUNK JUNK JUNK... I"ll never buy a generac product again....

Thanks for the clear and helpful video. We depend on our off-grid Honda 3.2kva generator, especially in winter (now). My son was welding directly off the generator, instead of the power system, and the generator was surging all over the place. Next thing, it is revving extra high, with no volts coming out the outlet.
The stepper motor that controls the throttle was AWOL, leaving the throttle to do what it felt like.
I pulled the control panel off to look for loose wires, fried electronic components, etc, but found nothing.
I'm reluctant to split the case to look at the invertor, but I guess that's the next step.
Anyone familiar with these?

I have a generac ix800 the motor works but it does not produce power, tell me how to install an inverter or a UPS so that I can use it please

If the inverter is bad, the generator part, generates 12 volts. The inverter is what inverts the 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC 1600 watts. Just remove the inverter, run the 12 volts to a DC 12 Volt Outlet and run a small external inverter. Yes, it would only efficiently run say a 125 watt inverter or maybe a 250 watt inverter at most. This would still give a small fan, a few LED lights and even charge a laptop. We use a lot of tings off our 125 watt inverter and even more things off our 250 watt inverter. Maybe i will try to find one one Craigslist or eBay that runs but does not give power. I would like to tinker with it and see if I could do that. Though the crappy little generator at Harbor Freight Tools for $89 may be a better deal than to try to re-purpose one of these.

Good video, I always wondered what they look like inside.

Do you have a link for that website for the schematics you're using

I have a ix2000 generator I’m getting 0.6-0.7 ohms between pin 1&4 on the c4 connector does that mean the sub stator is bad?

Just use it as a crude sign wave AC generator after you eliminate the inverter. You can also wire a bridge rectifier in parallel to charge battery banks on cloudy days..or you can hot rod a Malibu Barby electric car. Still plenty of good uses for it. "Who run bartertown"? He'll it probably out do my tailgater harbor freight two stroke generator.

Hello It’s a shame low run time looks great but now junk. They bring them smaller units into the shop for repair. They have low run time and look great. But most have old gas and never been maintained. Then after you get them running that don’t create power. They don’t tell you that part of the problem. You can spend hours getting them apart then reassembled. You have to disassemble them just to get to the important part like the plugs to check units charging system.
