I've read Goitien's quote above over and over and I still can't figure out how "a crisis of Constitutional proportions" and "all of this kerfuffle" refer to the same thing. I mean, I totally understand it, but then I have no idea what it means.

The outrage in these comments is justified, but given our recent history it's a little like having a hungry tiger in the house and complaining that it pooped on the rug.  Consider, though, that Brennan responded with derision and a veiled threat.  The tyrants are abandoning the façade of accountability and constitutionality.  We should take that seriously.
