Tony Schwartz, co-author of Donald Trump's autobiography "The Art of the Deal," joins Major Garrett for "The Takeout." Schwartz explains why he wishes the book wasn't even in print. Writing it more than 30 years ago, he says, is the greatest regret of his life.

If a ghost Writer revels his identity would that make him just a writer?

The Art of the Deal states, "If you make a mistake...don't dwell on it. Move on." Dumb dumb...you helped write the book...move on.

*"ghost writer"* He was literally mentioned as co-author. That's not what a ghost writer is.

For what it is worth (Art of the Deal), every public restroom should have a copy in place to use as toilet paper, no other use can be found for it!

It's a rare and welcome thing these days to hear a public figure acknowledge a mistake in judgement. I commend Tony for his humility and willingness to grow. He's a good man and a fine writer.

He regrets the book? I bet he doesn't regret the money he made! Hypocrite.

You tried to warn us, Tony. Before the election, I shared his New Yorker article with as many people as possible. It's only human to need money, especially with a young family.

Does he regret writing that book now? He says that had he known then that the book would have been more than a narcissistic account of a two-bit NY real estate conman, he wouldn’t have agreed to ghostwrite.

I like the book "The Art of the Deal". I think Trump's a good guy... Didn't you even read the section in the book you wrote about why rent control is bad?

I lived in NYC when the book came out. No one there took it seriously. It was just ego stroking BS and large numbers of the book had to be destroyed when they wouldn't sell. New Yorkers always considered him (and still do) a con man and clown. No other major party candidate has been so overwhelmingly rejected in the election by his own home town. The longer you know him the worse your opinion will be of him.

The fact that you wrote a hit piece on him before writing his book (which more than likely someone paid you to do) ...proves that the art of the deal is a true mentality lmao. People will do anything for money, especial people with no moral ethics. Trump literally took the same guy who wrote a hit piece on him and paid him to write his book. This writer apparently had no moral compass at that time. If you thought he was such a bad guy enough to write a hit piece on him why would you in essence write his 48 week chart topping memoir? Trump did what i like to call...tap dancing on the devil.

A 'writer', is a 'writer'. So, you wrote a book. It's like an 'actor' saying he 'acted' in a movie, but doesn't like the plot....but, he did the job, because he was contracted to do 'a job', not like it....The actor is not the movie. The writer is not the book, nor the subject matter...take the money, and move on...

100 and central south was a lawsuit Donald Trump some of the people living in the apartment where living in massive apartments I'm talking 8-13 rooms big, somtime only being charged +1/5 of what the apartment was worth. Some had for the past 20-30 years filed to get rent reduced mostly wealthy people who could actually afford to pay more, but just knew the system.

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" This is what the Statue of Liberty says standing in New York Harbor. "In God we trust" shows up on your money backed up in credit with dept. The only blessing I could see in any of this is that people don't have to care about truth. I grew up, (on again off again) homeless all my life. People your money is not being backed by gold but in trust. Simply put your money is worthless in human nature type feelings (inalienable rights). Another way to say it is that your money is living on a lie (politics). Maybe you can't see this living in the city but if you're walking in nature (Appalachian Trail, or others) living out of your backpack (your comfort zone) you could see this better. The world is upside down, the things you do for money is not the same as what you would do for God if you had a soul. Have fun on your nuclear clock and stay away from your sexual nature. If the people in charge are any example of the beauty that lives in money and not with nature I am glad they invented plastic.... homeless guy.
