Desi Arnaz mentions her in his autobiography in a very nice way, crediting her with offering him refuge when he really needed some help as a struggling bandleader in NYC.

What a complicated and touching story. My grandmother was attacked by her boss and thankfully had the support of her family. She gave birth to one of my favorite uncles. Miss Adler was all alone and had to make a go of it. I'm sorry that she got tangled up with rum runners and gangsters and such. That's a dangerous life.

What an awful thing, to be pregnant from an assault at such a young age and shunned by your "family" as a result. She did what she had to do to survive. Rest in heaven miss Polly. 💞

I enjoyed this video about New York Madam, Polly Adler. She had a very intriguing lifestyle. I'm sure in her autobiography she probably tells more of her lifestyle in depth. Great investigating, presentation, historical information, and photos, too.

What a sad, but interesting story! It hard to imagine a young woman making her own way in a foreign country.

This was a really good article. I noticed you brought up the everleigh club; have you ever done a story about that one? There's a book: Sin in the Second City. Great story.

I have been bingeing on your videos all night. So well done - your voice is soothing, the background music unobtrusive, the illustrations always interesting. But the content - the unknown lives of fascinating WOMEN what's not to love!! Keep it coming!

Thank you for your fascinating and extensively researched stories! I read about Polly Adler as a side character in Lullaby and Good Night (Vincent T Bugliosi) many years ago as a teen. The story stayed in my memory.
