STORY
Welcome to Chateau Milles Chambre, the captivating masterpiece known as the castle with 1000 rooms. Discreetly set, yet perfectly positioned, this architectural gem takes in magnificent, far-reaching views over the surrounding landscape of rolling, wooded hills and valleys. For over 900 years, the Fayolle family has proudly protected this cherished land, their connection to the castle's illustrious history spanning through generations.

The history of Chateau Milles Chambre dates back to 1143 when a medieval stronghold was erected on the site. Throughout the turbulent Hundred Years War, it endured attacks and bore witness to the struggle between the French and English forces. Rebuilt in the 15th century as a fortified castle, it fell under English occupation until it was tragically looted and burned down in 1485. Reconstruction efforts in the 18th and 19th centuries brought forth the magnificent structure that stands today, showcasing a harmonious blend of architectural styles and unparalleled historical significance. This enduring castle, with its golden sandstone façade and intricate woodwork, stands as a testament to the centuries of grandeur and resilience that have defined its existence.

Step inside and be mesmerized by the 25 exquisite bedrooms, each adorned with its unique charm, the 6 enchanting bathrooms offering a touch of luxury, and the captivating entrance hall that welcomes visitors with a regal embrace. This was one of the most Gorgeous Historical Castles I have ever seen. Thank you. You left me really wanting to see all the tiny hidden rooms. I Pray someone will come in and preserve all of its history and make it a museum and Bed and Breakfast for all to enjoy.

I’m glad they are trying to sell it rather than let it continue to fall into disrepair. A home so beautiful should be restored.

I am so fascinated how people lived in the past. Thank you Lesley and Danny. Love how you slowly move around the rooms so we see clearly the details and also the still photos and explaining the history too. It’s amazing that beds are still made. I bet you could make another documentary of this stunning place but show other rooms. I wish Danny didn’t talk over Lesley. Love you guys and look forward to more. ❤❤. From Canada

The woman on the painting, who carved something into the tree, carved 'pense à moi!' = Think of me. Like a small love-letter.

Why doesn't someone make it into a luxury hotel. Some bedrooms would need to be converted to bathrooms or bathrooms added into the larger rooms. Better than letting it fall into ruin and decay. It always breaks my heart to see books left behind or family photos. You always do such an amazing job of finding the history of places you explore and are so respectful of the place.

I find it wonderful that these beautiful places have not been vandalized! Some that you show us have SO MANY pieces that must be worth a ton. Whether it is furniture or rugs or nick knacks or painting, frames, mirrors, even the marble facades of the fireplaces....all of this is very valuable. It says something to me and that is even the down and out prone to theft people of France must still have a sense of respect. If these places were in the US they would have been stripped of every single thing worth a dollar and up. I wonder how they have managed to keep so much stuff in these places and yet, they are not vandalized.

Also good job to those behind the scenes, well done yet again. Thank you for doing these videos, we know it's not easy and very exhausting but you still do it so effortlessly. This castle is amazing. I can’t believe that anyone would leave all the furniture & belongings in it? I certainly would have made sure it wasn’t accessible. Who abandoned a castle like this? I hope whoever purchases this stunning bldg restores it & opens it to the public. You all do such amazing work! Thank you. Some of your best work!❤❤❤

Having two people sharing their knowledge is more enlightening than one person constantly guessing about items and history. Shared knowledge is never a detriment in these explores. As I grow older I am less and less "thrilled" by exclusive and beautiful spaces for the privileged few. But as a student and instructor of the Humanities, I understand they were also patrons of craftspeople and artists. Eventually, some of that wealth was used to create public spaces where ordinary citizens could walk and gather in the presence of beautiful architecture and enjoy the works of great sculptors and painters.

So much has been removed from this castle, I pray someone just took the valuables and stored them and they did not get stolen. I wish I was rich, I would buy this and open it up so people could feel the part of history that once was living there. Such a beautiful place, thank you two for doing such a great justice to this castle.

I watched a British couple explore this on their channel last week, but they knew nothing about the history and they went through it quickly, obviously missing rooms. I know Leslie and Denny will show us everything and tell us as much as they can. Looking forward to the rest of the documentary…

In my opinion, this was the most beautifully decorated and uncluttered chateau. Just beauty everywhere you looked. So many are daunting in size and clutter, but this one definitely had a homey feel to it. Thank you, Bros of Decay, this was a charming look at a true piece of history.🤗

Grandioso, ojalá alguien le de una nueva oportunidad a este pedazo de historia y no lo dejen morir en silencio; es increíblemente hermoso. Gracias Leslie y Danny💜
