I just bought a 2018 F-250 Lariat 6.2l and it's doing this intermittently. I am a heavy truck diesel mechanic and do a lot of my own work. This. Was. Phenomenal. From a mechanic point of view and a concerned owner point of view. Absolutely amazing diag. Thank you!!

If you are considering a diesel and don't really need one, you will be perfectly happy with the new 7.3. A nice low tech big block, cam in block with pushrods, and is a beast.

I can barely turn a wrench but I do thoroughly enjoy your content. It’s given me more appreciation and understanding with my mechanic co workers.

Kudos, your videos will help other techs in the field as they learn. Everyone starts green until you start troubleshooting issues yourself and learn.

Saved to my F250 playlist just in case this ever happens to me. So far, love my 6.2l v8. Very smooth, easy revving and plenty of power for what I do.

I said this once before and I'll say it again. You are the type of guy you want working on your stuff. An awesome video as always and a true master of your trade. Thanks for sharing. I've got a 40+ Toyota Master Tech who's worked on all of my Toyota pick ups who I feel the same way about.

Nice job, I remember back when the 3.8l V6 of the late 90's got diagnosed with a bad engine when all it was the two piece plastic intake knocking.

I feel like I'm getting free apprenticeship training by being subbed to your channel. Thanks for putting out content like this

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I actually have heard of this happening, but damn that sounded like a bad timing or intake issue. It would be interesting for a follow up of the failure…

From Ford dealership technician to another Ford dealership technician....it was a VERY helpful video. 6.2 engines have been relatively issue free from it's introduction in 2011 all the way up to present as far as I've seen, up until I saw this video. Good catch! Also a very good reminder to always, always, ALWAYS check OASIS for TSBs and SSMs. This concern also reminds me of '99 and '00 model year Windstars with the 3.8 V6. Remember those? The intake manifold plastic upper plenums would exhibit a loud rattle also completely resembling a bottom end knock, fooling a lot of technicians alike. It turned out the internal runners which assembled originally snapped into place inside the upper plenum would eventually distort after so much thermal cycling, causing excessive clearance inside so it would just rattle loosely around inside to produce the knocking sound. Thankfully Ford caught on relatively early to this concern and released an updated upper plenum with the internal runners glued to the plenum as opposed to being snapped into place like the original units. Not sure if you have been with Ford long enough to remember those.

Great video man! Had one of these come in my dealership about 7-8months ago with same problem. My customer also complained of intermittent low power. That it seemed to rev high but didn’t really accelerate. I did the exact same thing you did. Keep this great content flowing!

@2:26 - that's what I like to see, a Veteran mentoring those young guns. The information you are dispensing will help keep them alive or successful so to speak!

Thanks for the information it’s good to see someone that knows how to read a scanner and know what and how to diagnose an issue.

Must resist the kock joke. (Typo in title)

Wow, thanks for showing us that. Not a Ford guy but something to think about since so many cars have intakes with long and short path diverters. Never would have thought an intake could sound like that.

Great video i have replaced a few intake manifolds to fix that noise in the 6.2
