the IEO Seminar Series hosted Hector Torres (Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI)) and Rafiq Dossani (RAND Center for Asia Pacific Policy) on "The IMF and the WTO in a Fragmented World: Fostering Mutually Reinforcing Reforms." In this webinar, Hector Torres presented a proposal to strengthen multilateralism by reforming simultaneously the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization, the institutions responsible for liberalizing trade and for regulating capital movements. Rafiq Dossani examined these and other reforms that may be needed to restore a world order at a time when two great powers, the United States and China, seem to have different views, making the outcome hard to predict.

Nicoletta Batini (Independent Evaluation Office of the IMF) will serve as the event chair.
