I went to a class like this 2 weeks ago and felt so horrible about myself afterwards that I cried in my car all the way home. I felt so inadequate and uncoordinated and stupid. Give me planet fitness with an elliptical with earbuds and a crime podcast any day.

I went to a free Pure Barre class with a friend a few years ago, and as someone who took ballet classes as a child, I did NOT like it!! Those socks were too damn high, and don’t even get me started on those prices for classes. After the experience I had with that one class, I figured I’d be better off taking ballet classes for adults rather than a Pure Barre class 😅

For like a semester, I did a couple work shifts for free at Yoga Pod in exchange for free yoga classes in college. It was a program they had. This was the exact energy and reason why I never showed up for a course. I got secondhand ptsd just witnessing this while sweeping or hosing mats lmao.

Fun fact the summer after I graduated high school my old ballet studio started offering pure barre classes and one of my old teachers was the instructor. She knew some of my good friends and I were home from college for the summer so she asked if we could be assistant instructors. A whole year without doing daily stretches or barre warm ups and naturally none of us had our flexibility anymore so we were dying by the end of the class. My teacher told us “it hard to believe you were my dancers for 16 years.”

I used to drive 30 minutes through snow storms to go to a 6 am class. My body was so weak after having 6 kids in 6 years. Every class was as brutal as the first bc as you improve your form it gets harder and the better you get the more you improve your form.

I went for 6 months and I have never looked so good. My legs, butt, abs were all so tight. I would lie in bed and press a finger into my relaxed hamstring and it was like a rock!

Unfortunately I had to stop due to an unrelated health issue, but as it’s improving, my goal is to go back! Now I live 5 minutes away from one.

And while I have been to places with snobby people, the owner and instructors were all super friendly and supportive. I never talked to the other women. I’m not there to make friends. I want to do my workout and leave.

I actually have TWO pairs of socks. I think o won the second pair by doing 20 workouts in 30 days or something. It’s been 10 years and I still have them. #statussymbol 😂
