Its meant for skiing when we are skiing or climbing steep icy slopes we usually carry an ice axe so you can self-arrest in case you fall with this you don't need an ice axe for that you have a nice long pole and you don't have to hold the pole and ice axe in one hand.

I know, next you should review a carbon ice skate! Perfect for field dressing and then once you're ready to pack out just throw it on your right foot and ride down the mountain. I don't know why so few people use the carbon ice skate for hunting applications. Jeez... you're fuckin 10 ply, bud.

Looks like a great trekking pole. But, it seems to have another basket (smaller) than the standard one. I'm interested in getting the Whippet, and I'm thinking of using it mostly for trekking like you. But, I would like the option to use it in snow as well. Is it possible to interchange baskets/tips on this snow/trekking pole? Any elaboration would be most appreciated.

I bought one of these from you. Good quality. On my last goat hunt one of the stalks was so steep everything I touched moved downhill and never stopped. I’ve rock climbed but never on anything that steep without protection. Sure wish I’d have had this Whippet with me just in case. I will next time. Keep on showing us the good gear.

What's difference between Carbon Whippet and Traverse WR 2 poles?

I would NOT recommend this product. If you are expecting to take these poles into Black Diamond type of conditions, these are NOT for you. I bought them with the faith that they would stand up in Black Diamond type of conditions. One broke with very little force in a green diamond type of condition. Black Diamond will not stand behind their product. I had to call and email them for a month and they said that I was at fault and put excessive force on the pole. I always pay top dollar for fly rods and they always replace them with no questions. I would recommend Walmart. You will get similar quality for $30 and at least they will replace them if they break.
