We have lots of each around my area of Western Kentucky. Kestrels are so cool to watch when they hover and swoop.

Fun fact, Kestrels aren't hawks, in fact they are falcons and are more closely related to parrots than true hawks like broad wing or sharp shinned hawks; or red tailed hawks which aren't really hawks either but are more closely related to true hawks than either are to kestrels.

Thats soo awesome! My Grandaddy also called them Sparrow Hawks. I have watched them on power lines in the same places for years. They somehow like the same spots from generation to generation.
