This is the ground launched, small diameter bomb (GLSDB) that the US is considering sending to Ukraine.

40K for a 150KM strike with near perfect accuracy is a steal.

40k per unit?! It's like a short range cruise missile. Heck yeah that's a good munitions right there to send. Accurate n cheap

A big advantage of the design is, the rocket motor separates from the bomb after propelling it to altitude. After the separation, it's a cold, quiet glider with virtually no IR signature. Once it passed the radar guided air defence, nothing will stop it. Use it in swarms together with a HARM missile or two and the Russians will even switch off their radar.

SAAB is a company from Sweden.
We like to build cannons bombs and rockets.
When a NLAW knocking on your door it's saying boom.

And the best thing to come out of this conflict is Sweden and Finland joining NATO, they have small but seriously strong military forces

Pretty good. I think Excaliburs cost like 50k and they only go to around 40km. This thing has a similar payload and flies to 150km.

Looks like it's time for field testing

It will make it to it's destination as long as the crank sensor doesn't fail. Just like any SAAB

Sorry guys but the small diameter bomb is made by Boeing and M26 by Vought. Saab and Boeing come up with the way to put them together.

LOVE that the photo I took of that SDB hitting the test hangar is used for every single person who ever talks about it or who ever even mentions fighter weapons systems 😂

Knowing its Swedish its probably very enviroemntaly friendly. They probably figures out a way how to make it run even better on etanol and biodegrade its targets on impact separating all plastic, metal and glass parts into flatpack boxes with ease of transportation and recykling in mind. 😂

$40, 000 compared to 1, 400, 000 for an atacms is a great deal. Smaller warhead but still close in range. We can get them the range they need without looking like we are escalating.
This will double the resuply and c2 time. With Russia already having trouble suppling front line troops that is huge. Plus being central controlled breaking that chain is huge.

Awesome! I hope we send them like several thousand of these!!

My favorite Saab car is the JAS-39 Gripen E

$40K! Wow. I would have guessed more than double that!

Forty grand per unit, 150km range, and accurate within a meter sounds insane.

With NATO intelligence this is an op weapon.

I think it is a bit misleading to say it costs 40k. 40k is the price of the SDB. The rocket motor is not accounted for because those are unused now and there are plenty of them.
However, to get full costs you would need the price of the rocket motor and to putting it all together. Still it is very cost effective especially compared to ballistic missiles or cruise missiles.

The creative engineers were let down by whomever named it!

It appears that the name "Small Diameter Bomb" only applies to this design although there are different models by different manufacturers.
