I hope that not only you get your citizenship ceremony soon, but that you will get your citizenship certificate flawlessly. I had to wait around 9 months after my exam for the ceremony

While the ceremony itself went well, waiting for the certificate….was another story. So they did say it takes around 2 weeks to get the certificate, but there was some problems

In summary: there was confusion with my old location, new location, and the immigration lawyer location. So my original certificate was everywhere except my new location.
5 months and no luck, so the lawyer had a serious chat with immigration, and I got my new certificate a week after that 😅

Funnily enough, my original certificate was discovered 😂
I really have no idea what happened, what went wrong. But I was very nervous cause even though in the system I am definitely a citizen, I couldn’t apply for a Canadian passport without this certificate. And i had no passport at all, and my country of origin they made getting a new passport almost impossible. So I was beyond relieved once it was finally all over 😅

It was a wild journey. But finally I have Canada as my home 🇨🇦❤️

I barely read the book and I still passed. Questions are very easy. I was sure about 14 of them and I basically just gambled the rest and I got 17/20.

Cool, congrats 19/20 is a very good result :) Good, that in Canada you can get citizenship that fast, in Europe everything together can take more than 10 years . . .

Seeing this video gave me a ptsd flashback when I had to prepare for my Canadian citizenship exam. And this was for several reasons 😅

1. I’m terrible at exams and memorizing. It was a huge struggle at school, so having to do it again was emotionally horrifying for me 😅
2. Despite I applied during Covid and the website said post exam interviews were cancels, I was still worried about that part. I’m shy and very introverted.
3. The website said if you fail twice? You have to speak to someone and do the test once more (and above the fear of speaking for me applies here too). But additionally if you fail the 3rd time? They refuse your application and have to start all over again. And that was a scary thought

I found a video that had both the discover Canada booklet and the audio combined together. So I used that over and over.
I did the exam, was shaking, first try….I passed 17 out of 20 😁

Interesting fact. When Newfoundlanders voted to Join Canada in 1948 it was a close call. 52.3% voted in favor of joining while the rest wanted to remain independant. Part of the deal was supposed to include free ferry service from the island to the rest of Canada as it would be considered a part of the Trans Canada Highway. This promise of course was a lie and we have to pay to get on the ferry and it is quite expensive.
