It sounds pretty darn good, (just not for me). I believe Buckethead uses one at times, and Robin Trower uses a custom made Fulltone pedal that does something similar

This was the very first pedal I bought. Can't remember the exact price but I think it was less than 15 quid. Problem was I had only just started playing and didn't really know how to use it.

At first i could not get this pedal to respond properly, then i found out that there is a trim pot inside which determines the sensitivity to the input, adjusting that pot helped me to make it respond better to my play…
