Synopsis: When former CIA agent Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) hampers an IRA terrorist attack in London, he kills one of the terrorists. The dead man's brother, another member of the group named Sean Miller (Sean Bean), is arrested but quickly escapes. Vowing revenge against Ryan, Miller travels to the United States, where he forces Ryan's wife (Anne Archer) and daughter (Thora Birch) into a car accident that badly injures them. This convinces Ryan to rejoin the CIA in order to track down Miller.

Sean Bean was accidentally injured by Harrison Ford during a stunt fight. Some time before he was filming Sharpe, but the scar gave his character a realistic after look, from a stunt in the series pilot.

I write paranormal, comedy, and other genre kindle ebooks and Patriot Games is one of the things I wrote about. I write how in the trailer they say this is the first attack on domestic soil and the first thing that gets attacked is the wife driving a Porsche 911. 9/11 happened some time after the film came out. Should have won a special best prophecy in film Oscar.

I love all the ryan films, for different reasons. But, certainly I think harrison for was particularly great as ryan, in balancing a family life and being retired with wanting to still be out in the field. Patriot games and clear and present danger is a great two film arc for harrison for as ryan, it would've been great to see him play ryan one more time, maybe we still can.
