Episode 44

Deja Vu is one of the most unique games for the NES! Due to Nintendo's strict policies, very few mature games ever got made. Deja Vu features surprisingly dark film noir themes, the kind that you won't anywhere else on the system!

At its core, Deja Vu is a Point and Click adventure game similar to Maniac Mansion. Deja Vu uses a first person view, and was originally designed for black and white Macintosh computers.

So how did this game get from the Macintosh to the NES? What changes had to be made? In this very special episode of U Can Beat Video Games we'll not only learn all of this, and then dive deep into the gameplay... but we'll be able to compare every room from the NES game with the Macintosh original!

* Tons of ITEM DATA! Which items are important, and which ones are junk!
* How to find all of the ADDRESSES! Unlock every area!

*The SECRET to ALWAYS HITTING THE JACKPOT on the Slot Machines!

* Where to find EVERY KEY, and what they're all used for!

*How to get rid of items you don't want, especially INCRIMINATING EVIDENCE!

* Restore your memory! How to use the different medicines to get the results you need!

* Where to find all of the different guns!

* Find all three KEY PIECES OF EVIDENCE you'll need to clear you name!

* A SECRET GLITCH that will allow you to go to locations you shouldn't be able to visit!

* How to get past dangerous enemies like Alligators, Muggers AND MORE!

Thanks for watching!

I really love your ability to condense a retro game experience. The detail you put in your sidebars is so extra, and your scripts are SUPER tight.

For a bit of extra story and context, you can give Vickers and Sternwood the sodium pentothal in the capsules while they're asleep, and hear some interesting things.

God the quality of these videos just gets better and better. I love how you also give us the original scene!

I used to be in a criminal justice. One tactic that attorneys commonly use is that they will never ever present evidence in a case where it makes the individual look guilty and they'll completely disregard it. It's not the same as lying, because no question was asked. Like the old saying goes, what mom doesn't know won't hurt her.

I'm so happy to see Deja Vu here! Playing this dark and moody game on the NES as a kid was wild. It was one of the few adult themed games and there was nothing else like it.

My older sister and I played this on NES when I was little, one of the few we played together. I remember being so excited every time we saw a new place where I could tell her to try punching and shooting everything, just to see what would happen. It was so great when we punched out the butler, and so disappointing how few people you could get away with shooting.

LOVE the "Unsolved Mysteries" touch with the background music in the beginning. If only Robert Stack (RIP) could be a guest narrator for your page!

Side by side comparison with an unrelated system is a nice touch. Man, you've hit a formula for let's plays here.

That Unsolved Mysteries theme in the intro gave me goosebumps! I didn't get a chance to actually watch that show as a kid because the music spooked me so much I would run to the tv and switch it off. It's definitely not *that* scary, but I clearly have a deep seated reflex triggered by that music.

I was a poorish kid in the mid 80's. I got a few games for special days, and could rent a few here and there, but even though I talked my parents into Nintendo Power, I rarely got to play many of the games. Its a real treat to finally see a few of these. So thank you for the nostalgia, and the walk through of some fun experiences I never got to have!

I am 39 and I grew up with all these games. I love watching your videos with my five year old. He loves this too. Thanks!

I don’t need this video. I could play through the whole game with my eyes closed. But everything about this video was compelling and made me feel reconnected to the joy of playing it as if it was my first time. Thank you so much.

Dude you've outdone yourself, LOVE the old version comparison window. I've never seen that before coupled with the full playthrough, history intro, and great commentary. Excellent shit, you're on your way to being legend like Chrontendo.

Remember being so stuck in this game, that music droning on for hours while I tried to figure out what to do, never beat it. Thanks for showing how! SHADOWGATE PLEASE!

That Cabbie is so chill. I mean it says he's nervous when you enter the cab, but he just saw you get out, and shoot a door open and he's like "No, it would be rude to leave or call the cops. I'll just wait here."

Holy ish…. My brother and I played this for months and could hardly get past the beginning. I forgot all about it. I am so excited to watch this. Seriously, this channel is brining me childhood joy. Thank you so much.

The Unsolved Mysteries intro was gold! Man, I remember the Halloween episodes scared the hell out of me as a kid, cause the show was REAL! That meant ghosts and aliens were going to get me!

I remember my friend getting this game for his 10th or 11th birthday. I always loved it, played it before then, but this game makes me think of him.

Rest in peace, Brad.

Shadow Gate was so much fun as a kid. Playing it in an era where you couldnt just google how to beat it made solving it that much more rewarding.
