We have to start in the settings tab as any of these setting could make or break a playthrough. Tweak the wrong setting and get no loot or create the "speed is key" zombie. Not difficult enough? Try some new settings and create a whole new feel. I do not think these setting have been discussed enough. Lets do a DEEP dive into how they affect your game.

Really outstanding tutorial! Great explanations and detail - you cover SO much info in 1 video!

I have over 4000 hours and never new 'smell' was still a thing' I thought they took it out like 10 alphas ago, back when you could "see" your smell trail on the map (when carrying certain foods)! Really great info. Love your content. Keep up the great work.

With the "Drop on Quit" perhaps you are "going to sleep" when you log out. Therefore you take off your backpack and belt to be comfortable. Then you "wake up" when you log in, and put them back on. Sounds silly to me, but immersive.

One thing I do a lot is turn off the horde (very annoying they have a target lock on you, etc), set zombie damage down to blocks (they are slapping them with bare hands, not running around with a pick axe). Set most zombies to walk, with jog being the max.

It gives a nice feel to the game, with more old movie like zombies... and no need for a horde base (other than the borked heat generation system they currently have spawning screamers because you stubbed your toe) besides defenses on your home.

Other than that mostly default settings, with few tweaks depending on the play through.

7 days is about choices, The settings can make an interesting time.

Drop on quit might work for a team server, allowing any resources you might be carrying to be available for sharing when you're offline. Might also work on an open server with no PvP to allow limited looting of logged out players...

Multipass! lol One of my favorite movies! Coming from Legacy console to the new 1.0 Xbox console here. I was a little gray on some of those settings so thank you for explaining them.
I had turned up xp to 200 then later back to 150 because I had a feeling it had an effect on my game but wasn't sure how. I think I'll stay at 150. If you got to the group screen at look at game progress level you'll see how cranking up xp is affecting your game. If you turn up xp it might be a good idea to focus skill point on combat prowess. You might be using crude weapons but you'll really good with them for instance.

On low loot abundance (yes, I'm that type of player :D), there is only one problem with it (a bug even ?), the number of items decreases. Even if you're supposed to get just one. That means empty containers, that's fine in POIs, but also in zombie loot bags... which is beyond frustrating ! imo ^^

On server games with friends we use to select „kill everybody“ to cover friendly fire effects. It forces Communication, when going into poi or having horde nights. „Kill allies only“ May do the same on open servers, where you want friendly fire but no PvP.

Great series, catching up on them. I think the drop on quit was meant for PvP. This stops the player from quitting out and keeping their gear in an effort to avoid being killed and looted. That's my guess.

'Drop everything on log out' is pretty much a debug tool. If for some reason something is 'stuck' in your inventory (usually only because of Mods) this is literally the only way to get it out. Empty everything ELSE from your inventory out FIRST though...lol And remember to reset it when you log back in.

I have a good reason for drop on quit. My wife and I play together often and she always pulls me into her game. If I am not available to play the next time she can grab my stuff when I log out at the base. But under normal circumstances I have no idea why

even as some what of a vet i allways try out scaveger to check out new stuff but for people who have never played or has jumped up to 1.0 on consoles i would strongly sugest the noob setting till you fully understand the game

Two reasons to play in creative mode on the PC and probably the console too. Your PC or the game can crash and when log back on, your bicycle and everything in it is gone. There's nothing wrong with going into the creative menu and getting everything you lost back. Occasionally when I'm tired I will buy the wrong thing or sell the wrong thing to the trader. There is no trader buy back.

You can go into creative mode on Xbox but you have to use a mouse and keyboard. Even on God mode zombies can damage you for some reason.

Drop on Quit. Someone logged out with the base/community auger or whatever. But that leads to the question of how long does it stay on the ground before despawning?

Coming from the old console version to this, the game has been improved (dumbed down in some aspects) but it's not a completely different game. Yes there are a couple of new zombie types, perhaps the AI has been improved yet I hardly feel much of a difference if I'm going to be honest, they are still pretty dumb.

I thought thwre there a mod called „Romero“ where you had to hit them in the head to „kill them“?
