Tantrums and toddlertrums are awesome. The word "no" shows intellectual exploration. The child also seeks context for behavior.

As this ad demonstrates whimsically, when the "no"s come out I become formal. If I might have let the rules slide for a non-tantrum, I won't during tantrum. Maybe, however, this requires rules more honest than other parents are willing to make.
