Just watched through this series with my mother and I can confidently say this is one of the best shows I have ever watched and I'm stunned it is not more popular. Without a doubt it is the show with the best acting I have ever seen--every scene with Rothstein, Meyer, and Luciano had me glued to the screen. And that's not even mentioning Buscemi who is obviously a phenomenal actor. Amazing show.

I watched HBO's "the wire" and "the sopranos" first, but I never heard of this show. Once day I clicked it on, and I saw Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt, Michael K Williams, I was s excited, and indeed this is such a treasure!

This intro summarizes the entirety of Nucky’s life. He starts off in a rough upbringing, with the opening blues riffs. Then Nucky finds his footing as a deputy, doing policework and gruntwork for the Commodore, as conveyed by the ballad portion of the song. Then, when the song hits 0:43, it picks up and becomes more chaotic, reminiscent of 1960s rock, and the bottle smashing on the pier piling—the point when Nucky becomes Sheriff and collects Gillian for the Commodore as his first true act of greed in his ambitious pursuits. All the while the clouds gather on the horizon into a violent storm with waves crashing and bottles of bootlegged liquor freely afloat among them at the will of the waves and the storm stirring them up. Finally, it ends with Nucky walking away from it all, leaving it all meaningless in the end. His pursuits were in vain.

At least that’s how I feel about it.
