(040) Master Lock 1530DCM combination dial padlock decoded

Hey everyone! In this video I pick and decode a cheap Master Lock combination dial padlock for a laugh. It's a bit trickier to do than other YouTube vids make out too.

Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use!

Very nice demonstration of how to open it! I'm thinking that the mechanism is slightly different to the full-sized master locks where you have to "add 5" to the stuck point.

Nicely done Lock Noob :). I have one of these in blue. Once you get the feel for it, it's not that hard as you have noticed ;). There is actually a similar, but little different method to get the first number and the second one is the hardest to find. Not much resistance or protection, but this is well known ;)). I have also a chinese dial padlock, where you can't find the second number at all.

I have the same lock in blue but the shackle won’t open at the third number/gate. I’ve wasted five hours watching various videos and none of the stuff works. I’m almost sure of two of the three numbers and those are exactly the ones I get using all these techniques.

Nice one mate, however you can shim the anti-shim padlock. You just need a slightly different technique to defeat the bear claw.

Im from the US. I have a purple version of one of these but however cannot revert the combination for it!! It's killing me! School is in session and I need it! My lock is purple, 1530CDM any help?? Pleasee

So am I correct in assuming that there are really only 64 combinations which need trying, all multiples of 5, before trying the last digit? A total of 512 possible positions, and less if you assume that all 3 numbers will not be the same? It's another lock which should be sold with a (lack of) security warning, rather than a security rating! Thanks.

This is beginning to suck. Tried it so many times. The first number is binding the strongest between 3 points. The strongest one is not the one where you would add 5 but where you would add 2 instead to get the actual number.

When finding the second number are you turning it clockwise like when finding the first number?

I think all these dial video's are bs, because the part that has the false gates is the #3 wheel which is the third number in the combo and also the driving wheel. the dial needs to be set at the last gate before testing a depth position of the other wheels, any other position will get the same depth, within mfg tolerances.
