My son applied for a job at Tesla and the manager wouldn't hire him cause my son had not been to mechanic school but can fix anything but felt since he had to go to mechanic school he would only hire someone that had

It must honestly be really a really stressful and scary environment for all the workers there. “One employee struck every day” like a death match which is inevitable, as humans can’t be innovative forever.

Wow I worked at a big tech company and they talked this talk but certainly didn't walk it. The problem is they don't direct their management to encourage or even demonstrate innovation, all managers do is worry about OKRs and performance metrics, very spreadsheet driven. As soon as anyone demonstrates innovation they ignore it because it doesn't fit into the business as usual directives. As a result their products suffer from stagnation and customers loose out. Elon's innovation values are great but they need to be applied to managers not just engineers in order for it to truly flourish.

For the past 20 yrs, I can name a handful of people I have worked with who didn't do any work. And yet my company and Boss wouldn't fire them for the fear of lawsuits and such or just plain coward on the Boss's part. No one respects a Boss who cannot cut off the weakest link.
