I was listening (and *loving*) this song and it hit me: in one way, it kinda sounds like Olivia Rodrigo’s start of the song is talking about how jealous she is of other girls. She’s not as pretty as them and everyone has it better than her, kind of making you feel bad for her. But then Melanie Martinez’s part comes in, kind of “silencing” her in a way, saying that Olivia’s lying and asking others to pacify her, so she can stop complaining. I think it brings an interesting dynamic of a girl who always wants the attention on her, downing herself so she can get compliments and another girl who sees through it all and calls her out in publicly. And when Olivia’s second verse comes in, it’s not as genuine or believable; like does she really feel this way, or is she only saying it for attention?

I know that’s not the intentions of the artists and songs, but the way the mashup was created, I think that’s a cool perspective to hear this song.

I feel like jealousy jealousy is the girl's mind convincing herself that she's not enough, while pacify her is the girl's conscience, telling her to not believe what her mind is saying and that it's lying. Pacify her is trying to tell her that those perfect girls aren't worth fretting over when she's perfect herself. It's trying to block out jealousy jealousy.

I love how these songs go together so perfectly but clash at the same time. They both discuss the topic of jealousy but in different ways. Olivia's song is more of a more innocent, sad, and tired type of jealousy, where she's so tired of feeling jealous of other girls and feels exhausted/empty. And on the other hand Melanie's type of jealousy is different. Melanie's version of jealousy is more sinister. Like she's gone through the stage of sadness due to the jealousy and now has turned to anger and action. It has a more evil vibe to the song. absolutely love this remix.
