As we all know, China's infrastructure technology has long enjoyed a high reputation around the world. Whether it is the vast continents of Asia, Europe and Africa, or the Americas on the other side of the ocean, or even distant Oceania, China's participation in construction projects can be seen almost everywhere.

Especially in countries with backward economies and slow development, China's infrastructure construction has not only significantly improved the quality of life of local people, but also paved a "road to wealth" for their economic development.

However, an unexpected piece of news recently came: Nepal said that the quality of the project undertaken by China was not up to standard, and therefore it refused to pay the US$220 million project fee.

As soon as this news came out, it immediately attracted widespread attention from the international community. Some people even speculated that Nepal's move was to obtain US$500 million in aid from the United States. So, what is the truth behind Nepal’s refusal to pay the US$220 million project fee?

Blind greed and unwise. Nepal has not only lost the trust of China but also the international community.

Nepal must have learnt this pariah tactic from India, however this is only short term. If Nepal don't pay China should remove all construction materials used in the making of the airport, including all furnitures, airport tarmac, basically everything. Let that Nepalese pariah make their own airport.

He betrayed China after Nepal's airport went into operation, and he has no future and has tarnished Nepal's good name. Only the United States and its allies will do business with Nepal. Unethical and shameful.

China needs to understand the South Asian mindset....you will never receive the last payment in a contract. Before I retired, my company did consulting work for clients all around the world. With any other region, you could use the standard contract where work was delivered in stages, which was followed by payment from the client. But with clients from South Asia, we could not do this, they would always make excuses why they would not make the last payment. So with clients from South India, we had to either insist on full payment before we did any work, or front load payment, so that even if the last payment were not made, we would have already received the amount we intended.

Nepal is not only poor financially but also morally and ethically. Now that the USA has gotten what it wants Nepal will never see that $500, 000, 000.

For China, US 200 million is peanuts to them and to build an airport is such a simple project as they have embarked much more massive and challenging infrastructure projects around the world. ! To use the lame excuse of “quality issues” does not hold water as there is no complaint with their massive projects that they have undertaken (and always delivered on time)…! To betray China in such a manner after “ built and financed” the airport is indeed appalling and stab in the back. Nepal is very short-sighted and ungrateful considering they are neighbors to China…if they are genuinely facing serious financial difficulties, they could discuss on a bilateral/diplomatic level and I’m sure that China may write-off the loan as what China did for some African countries. Nepal approach is not only morally wrong but also caused a major negative impact in their economy due to its proximity to China….😤

Nepal definitely needs to show more mature leadership. It should not have to badmouth China to get the $500 million aid from the US. Nepal is a very poor country and needs to get aid from wherever it can without taking any sides. The US should be ashamed of trying to force Nepal to spoil its other relationships to get the aid it was promised several years ago. Nepal should also realize that the US is slowly but surely becoming a dying global power while China is rising from strength to strength. This will only increase over time. Therefore, for the long term as well, Nepal should be looking at China for its rapid development and not at the US. Nepal should also keep in mind that the US, with its $100 trillion debt and growing domestic financial crises in almost all areas, may wriggle out of this aid agreement any time. This is because it doesn't make sense that the US will continue to feed others if its own people are starving to death.
