South Korea has said the latest launch by the North could possibly be a new solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile. The missile landed in the East Sea after flying about 1,000km. The military did not give further details such as the missile's maximum altitude. North Korea in the past had tested short-range solid-fuel missiles, but not a long-range missile. This suggests North Korea may have advanced its missile and nuclear programme – since solid-fuel missiles have the potential to launch within minutes, unlike the liquid-fuel missiles that are more time-consuming.

For South Korea first it must seek strategic autonomy from the US and delink its survival with that of Japan. All Korean have dark memories of Japan. Then open conversation with North Korea with China and Russia acting as guarantors to peace in the Peninsula.

Well done North Korea. Please continue to improve your nukes tech to launch ICBM that can reach mainland US. This is only way to protect yourself from US attacks else will be like Iraq. Way to go North Korea.
