Marques’s usecase of the iPad doesn’t even justify a Pro model, let alone the latest M4. He could do with a base Air

Last year, I upgraded my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 inch to the 2023 model of the same size, but it didn't deliver much of a wow factor. However, I was content knowing I had future-proofed my hardware for the next 5 to 6 years. I took a chance on the iPad Pro 13 inch M4, with the mindset i’m going to return it….This time, it didn't disappoint… My Use Case, the wow factor was definitely there. The screen is stunning & unbelievably light and thin. Everything is crisp, not just bright… hands on is a must to truly appreciated it. It's a keeper.

As an architect, every part of my professional being longs for this device: sketching on nano-texture without the need for silly paper-like screen savers, reviewing and redlining large drawings, conducting 3D studies, performing onsite LIDAR measurements, explaining details to craftsmen on the construction site without dealing with shiny reflections, carrying less weight, and having the entire project documentation, including extensive picture catalogs, always on hand. This is perfect and not overdone. It's a versatile professional device for professional use cases, plain and simple. Yes, much of this is possible with my M1 iPad Pro, but many of my other tasks could also be done on an Intel Mac or even a Windows machine. However, would I even consider that? As soon as I'll find sling cases for carrying around, I'll place an order...

I got myself an iPad Air M2, but I've never had an iPad before and this was actually a pretty good value so far

1/20 of an inch is somehow easier for Americans to understand than 2mm. Praised be Gilead

As a software dev and a hobbyist photographer, i bought the ipad to use during travel as my primary machine but its just a video/ebook reader, it doesn't even run the full version of Photoshop or Lightroom Classic. I would rather move to the new surface with snapdragon elite. Maybe its a bit slower but i could run whatever i want.

As an artist coming from the 2018 iPad Pro, this is actually a game changer!

As someone that used a Macbook and an iPad. I use my iPad more even than my phone when i’m at home, so i ended up selling my mac and ipad and got the M4 13” ipad with magic keyboard… it was the best decision ever my needs meet in between 🥰

Stem Splitter is amazing. For DJs, being able to remove elements for remixes is incredible.

@ 10:28 The last mini LED on last ipad pro only reached 600 nits SDR, the new one reaches 1000 nits SDR so they are not exactly the same. For HDR content they are the same.

Hey, I'd love to join the conversation.

Firstly, I think Apple always considers their design language in every device. Since 2018, with the Apple Pencil 2, they have consistently placed the Apple Pencil in the same spot. I believe that changing its placement would disrupt their design language, and that's why Apple has maintained this. (If they wanted to restrict the use of Apple Pencil Pro only to the latest iPad models, they would have done so without excuses.)

Secondly, I believe that the decision to make the iPad thinner was not to boast about having the thinnest device, but rather to make it easier to hold for longer periods compared to its predecessors. Additionally, by making it thinner and lighter, they were able to make the Magic Keyboard much lighter as well.

These are my thoughts on this.

Either Apple is not making enough changes or they're making too many changes, no one can ever be happy. Let's give these engineers and designers at apple some credit once in a while. The Apple Pencil was completely redesigned on the inside, they added gyroscopes, haptic engines, find my capability, a new charging system. And yeah they had to keep the charging in the same exact spot because of orientation, ease of use and aesthetics. 1.Most people are right handed and so it would need to stay on the right side for portrait mode and 2. It stays attached better and is more easily accessible for grabbing when it's on top and in landscape mode. 3.if it was off to one side or the other it would look weird asf. You know Apple is all about Aesthetics.

I still use my 2017 iPadPro with gen1 Apple Pencil. It is still snappy for note taking, web browsing and YouTubing.

The magnet placement for the new pencil wouldn’t make sense to put on the other side or even on both sides. The magnets had to be redesigned with the new landscape camera in mind. So a new pencil with new magnet placement had to be made.

If you put the old magnets on the other side it’s inconsistent to have different magnets on each side. Folio case would not work, you’d have a pencil snapping to the bottom side of the iPad on the Magic Keyboard. Their approach had to be done the way it was because you don’t want to train your user base to snap an older designed pencil on the incorrect side and open yourself up for criticism that the pencil doesn’t work with the other accessories for the iPad.

Yes it happens to be convenient for Apple’s bottom line that new iPad means you have to re-buy new accessories(frustrating as an M2 owner with Magic Keyboard and Pencil), but the reasoning why it had to be that way is sound.

You could say the same thing about every damn IPhone and Samsung phone in the last 3 years. It’s an iPad Pro. It’s obviously not for you if you don’t use it professionally. Those that do. Love it.

Apple Pencil Pro does not charge on the other side because it would be hard to grab it and put it down while on Magic Keyboard. Sides are also unusable (Thunderbolt on one side and a button on the other).
