hahaha my main thoughts after watching this are "what doesn't the wheel of time have?" But this was a really great list! I think my big one has always been teleportation although I do love to walk so not sure how I would feel about removing my reason to walk with purpose lol but you get into one long distance relationship and all you want is super speed or teleportation.

This was such a fun video, I loved it! I would have picked so many of the same things!

I certainly want to go into a dream world of libraries. Also I need to know that nail polish 😻💅🏾

I love the idea of a Dream world during COVID! And the floo network. Ways to travel or communicate “in person” easily sound so appealing right now. I also wanted to be able to communicate with animals and be a vet! I used to “study” dog breeds as a kids, which is actually hysterical looking back on it. I love the idea of healing (maybe I would have been a Yellow, haha).

Oh, I waited until I was done editing my video for this topic before watching yours (has anyone else done it yet?), and you definitely interpreted it in a totally different way than I did! I'm totally with you on dream worlds in pandemic times. The Newford series by Charles de Lint (especially The Onion Girl), which I mentioned in my video for the art not the dream world, has a really fascinating one that draws from a lot of mythology.

When I heard about the part in WoT with the Ways it reminded me so much of the norse mythos in the new God of War game (PS4) Its so freaking cool.
YES! When you mentioned AI Companion I immediately thought of MBot but the one from Cinder is great too!

An animal companion is something I’ve always wanted. Something similar to Saphira from The Inheritance Cycle.

They're not flying they're falling with style.

These are good picks! I think we might eventually get to the point of translator pins in the real world, so hopefully that one will come true!

Would definitely like instantaneous travel would really save me the hassle of getting a drivers license 😂

Loved all your suggestions for the real world...taken from SFF books.

In Star Trek, they have the Universal Translator, which I agree would be amazing...since I haven’t been able to learn any other language. Star Trek also has the Transporter, but I’m not sure I would want my molecules turned into energy - beamed from point A to point B and reconfigured (hopefully correctly). Too many ways that that could malfunction in the Real World.

The shielding used in Dune would be cool.

I’m currently reading Martha Well’s Murderbot Diaries series. I want THAT Murderbot as my companion. So funny and snarky. Plus, we have a lot in common. I love the AI idea, when it is NOT hell bent on destroying humans. Love the Ann Leckie series (Ancillary Justice, Ancillary Sword & Ancillary Mercy) with their AI.

Yes, pretty much anything from the Mistborn world. Of course I’d want to be Mistborn, but maybe even a Twinborn. That would be amazing.

The idea of being a chameleon by touching someone else (from the book called Touch by Claire North). You’d lose the idea of self, but then you gain the ability to do or be anyone. This has the most downfalls, but still...interesting.

Yes, I would want most of all the magic from the Wheel of Time, but without the “taint” of the Dark One (obviously). My favorite is Androl.

To be rich enough to have a limitless number of Stacks from the Altered Carbon world (Altered Carbon and Broken Angels...still need to read Woken Furies).

Okay, that is it. Yours, plus mine.

Bloopers - once you start to say it (Warders), you start to second guess the actual pronunciation. I’ve done that so many times.

Th talking to animals from Wheel of Time is interesting, but so far, and I am only on book 6 of Wheel of Time, admittedly, the character that can talk to animals seems to be desperately fighting against it, although after seeing the results of what giving in to it can do, I can't really blame him.

Also, the translation thing would be great. I don't trust machines to do the translating though, because I'm just imagining that evil, or at the very least mischievous, AI sidekick translating something in a strange way, like how Google translates "paper jam" into Spanish from English. I think a great solution for this would be the Babelfish from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It doesn't depend on sound, but converts it into brainwaves you can understand.

This was a really interesting think video. I would probably really like the Babelfish myself, but the idea of a information network from Hyperion by Dan Simmons. Hopefully it wouldn't finish the same way, but well, hope springs eternal.

Hope you're doing well and thanks for the great video!

You are meticulous about books and I want to know about your way of saving book notes, can you make a video about your ways of saving booknotes?

First I want to be a wizard because magic. Then I want a magical mount/companion. Preferably a dragon. Then I want a magic weapon. If we are blending SF/F I could be a Jedi with the lightsaber as my magical weapon. I’d also want my own awesome spaceship. Big enough to carry my dragon of course. An A.I. as a friend, and to pilot my spaceship. Finally I want a deck of cards from The Chronicles of Amber. There are more, but I don’t want to be too greedy. : )

Although all these abilities seem incredible, I think my favourite is the more 'modest' one, hence the AI companion. Often in SF they are depicted as 'evil' so a AI friend really contrasts, guess this is the Mass Effect fan who speaks here!
