I actually know a Miss USA contestant who competed a few years ago who wanted a particular style of gown from Sherri Hill, custom, and Sherri Hill steered so far from her vision her final gown was nothing like she wanted. Sherri Hill basically told her that her vision wasn’t doable. And then, lo and behold, another Miss USA contestant that same year had a Sherri Hill gown that was practically identical to her vision, just in a different color. And then, at a recent NYFW, Sherri Hill debuted a gown that was also almost identical to her original gown vision. It blows my mind how Sherri Hill told this contestant she couldn’t bring her vision to life but yet I’ve seen two Sherri Hill gowns that looked so much like the gown she originally wanted.

It is rare but some contestants will spend close to $20, 000 USD on an evening gown. Costs are determined by numerous variables like materials, labor, brand name, etc. For pricing, you'll need to reach out to designers or their retailers directly.
